Ah yes, my first event... Good times... _(:3」∠)_

Which obviously means: my ships were shit, my equipment was shit, my resources were shit, everything was shit. Not to mention that the very same event introduced Artillery Spotting and LOS checks, so no one had any clue what was going on or how things worked at first. Needless to say, I was unable to clear all maps. Well, I would have been able to beat E-5, but I ran out of buckets, so whatever. Meh, it was my first event, I expected as much.

Admiral Log - Summer 2014

Oh, words fail to express how much I hated this event, but I'm gonna try anyway...

Aleutian Islands
AL would be easy, they said. It'd be nice for beginners, they said. Well, fuck you too, devs. When the very first node on the very first map threw a troll sub at me, followed by a night battle node, I knew I was in for a tough ride. And I was by no means a beginner anymore. Luckily the boss was ridiculously easy, so as long as I somehow managed to survive my trip to it, S-Rank was pretty much guaranteed. I used 1 BBV 3 CA 2 CVL and hardly faced any problems.
The next map, the last level of AL, was a whole different story. I wanted to take the "easy" route with 2 CA 2 DD 2 CVL, but at that time I didn't have enough high-level destroyers and needed to save them for MI, so I opted for the "hard" route with 1 BBV 2 CA 1 DD 2 CVL. Each node had its own kind of bullshit. The first node simply had strong ships. The second node was yet again a night battle node, which also showed me why I should hate those new Late Model destroyers they introduced with the event. When my ships could tank double attacks from flagship Ru & Ta and take scratch damage at worst, only to get OHK'd by a single attack from a Late Model destroyer - not even a Cut-In, just a single, normal attack -, I knew something was off. Not to mention their ridiculous evasion. Hooray for bullshit enemy ships. The next node basically boiled down to flipping a coin and hoping I guessed right. It had two fleet patterns. One consisted of a rather strong surface fleet with a battleship, light carrier and other shit. The other one consisted of submarines only. No sub icon on the map to tell me it's a sub node. So yeah, in the end it meant I had to pick either Line Ahead or Line Abreast and hope I faced the right enemy fleet. Picked the wrong formation? Well, sucks to be you. And once I reached the boss node, I had fun dealing with Hoppo. Luckily I had enough Type 3 Shells for my ships, otherwise it would have meant scratch damage against her. Thankfully she wasn't THAT bad. Yet again, the boss was rather easy while the normal nodes were fucking bullshit. And AL was supposed to be beginner-friendly? ggwp, devs.

Midway
After the various kinds of bullshit I had to endure in AL I was prepared to face even bigger bullshit in MI. Turned out I was wrong. Oh so wrong. Midway was a joke. After the trouble I had with AL I really thought MI would be harder. But nope, I cruised through it without even trying. Only my resources were suffering - especially my bauxite reserves - since I had to use two fleets at once. The compass on E-4 was a bit annoying, but that's it. There were certain branching rules, but they either required ships I didn't have yet (e.g. Akitsu Maru) or were found after I'd already cleared the map. In either case, not that hard. Little did I know that what would come after Midway came close to making me ragequit this game altogether...

The Counterattack
Oh gawd, E-6... words fail to accurately describe how horrible this map was. Only those who tried to beat it can understand the pain. First of all, no ship allowed that had been used in AL or MI. Also, no Combined Fleet. Which translated to an extremely bad start as I had already used the majority of my strong ships in the previous maps. And yes, I did plan ahead for every single map. Didn't help me that much in the end.
Anyway, the first node already threw flagship Ta & Nu at me, and it only got worse from there. Brought more than one subs? Say hello to the dead end. Then I had to choose between a full sub node or a night battle node. Didn't want the night battle node, so I had to bring either 2 CA(V), 2 CVL or 3 CV(L) to avoid it. The subs were just horrible. Even though they were in Echelon or Line Abreast they managed to crit my ships more often than not. Goddamnit, Flagship So-Class! And it didn't get any better, because then I had to choose yet again. Night battle node? Bring 1 CVL at most and pray to the compass. Want to avoid it completely? Bring 2 CVL and enjoy a pre-boss node with CV Hime and flagship Wo with takoyakis among other things. And no matter which route I took, in order to reach the boss node I needed a ridiculously high LOS, so a Saiun on each carrier was pretty much mandatory.
The CV Hime node was the worst part of the entire map, probably even worse than the boss node itself... Almost all sorties ended there. I could pick whatever formation I wanted. I could have brought Yamato or Musashi with their OP armour (At that point I didn't have them yet, so whatever). I didn't matter. If CV Hime hit my ships, they were done for. It didn't help matters that to ensure this route I had to bring 2 CVL, which aren't exactly known for their durability. And even when I managed to pass that node, the boss didn't get easier. I tried I don't know how many different fleet setups, but in the end it didn't matter because CV Hime just wrecked everyone and that's it. My resources were dwindling faster than expected - especially my buckets -, so near the end I realised that my buckets would be the first to run out, so I just went YOLO and used 2 BB 2 CAV 1 CLT 1 CV, and to my surprise I actually made some progress. Then came the final kill... If you thought one BB Hime was bad enough, how about TWO of them? Sure, it was random if your HQ Level was below 100, but since mine was 104... Reading up on other players' experiences with their last dances, I was prepared to completely run out of resources before I could even reach the final kill, but here I was, one boss kill away from clearing this fucking map... And despite my worst expectations, I got that final kill on my first try. It all went down in night battle. Only Ooi could still attack, both BB Princesses were still alive. Ooi targeted the right one and managed to kill her. E-6 clear, Isokaze obtained, Summer Event completed.
I seriously don't want to experience an event like this ever again...

Admiral Log - Fall 2014

There's not much to say about this event. As if it was an apology for the clusterfuck that was the Summer Event, this one was laughably easy. This event yet again featured the ship locking mechanic, but fortunately it was veeeeeeery lenient this time around. Ships used in E-1 & E-2 couldn't be used in E-3, and vice versa. But unlike in the Summer Event you could use all ships in E-4 and there were no restrictions for support fleets.

E-1 was nothing special. I cruised through it in less than an hour. E-2 wasn't that hard either. Sure, you could use only light cruisers and destroyers, and it had a night battle node, but it still was surprisingly easy. The boss could get annoying sometimes, especially with her hilariously high luck which pretty much guaranteed Cut-Ins, but that's it. E-3 wasn't exactly easy, but medium difficulty at worst, especially with the right fleet setup. Which I used, fortunately. Avoiding both whirlpools sure made life a while lot easier, especially for farming. E-4 was meh at best. It had once again CV Hime at the pre-boss node, but if you passed her the rest was piss-easy. Not even the boss posed that much of a threat. Needless to say I cleared that map pretty fast as well.
Then I spent the rest of the event in E-3, farming Akitsumaru and Noshiro since I didn't have them back then. As a nice bonus I also got 11 Maruyus, which made my KTKM-sama very happy. I didn't have to worry about Asagumo, the new event-exclusive random drop, because I got her on my last E-2 boss kill.
All in all this event felt more like a nice vacation. The maps were easy, the rewards were awesome.

Admiral Log - Winter 2015

Ah yes, the Winter Event, with lots of new stuff...

First of all, no more difficulty scaling that's depending on your HQ Level, now you could just pick the difficulty level for each map individually. Basic rewards, like ships, stayed the same for everyone, while those who liked it hard got awesome extra perks. Especially the Hard Mode rewards for E-1 and E-2 were pretty sweet.
E-1 was a joke regardless of the difficulty setting. Just give everyone sonars and depth charges, that's it. E-2 wasn't exactly hard - even on Hard Mode - but merely tedious due to the number of boss kills necessary to clear it. But it was totally worth it. That Prototype 51cm Twin Cannon sure packs quite the punch. E-3 was piss-easy; I needed only five sorties to clear it. E-4 in turn was a lot harder. Which is hardly surprising when the boss is yet again CV Hime. The last kill would have been a nightmare if it wasn't for my boss support fleet which literally managed to kill everyone except CV Hime and a lonely flagship Nu that was left heavily damaged. E-5 was on a completely different level, though... I tried it on Hard Mode at first since I cleared every other map on the same setting, but quickly realised that it was futile. I would have run out of resources before I could have got to the final kill, no to mention clear it. So I just settled with the next best difficulty level and cleared the map without too much trouble.
I spent a day or two trying to get Shioi in E-4, but gave up on that because yet again my resources wouldn't have survived it. There wasn't much else for me to farm anyway. I got Asashimo, this event's exclusive random drop, from the pre-boss node in E-5 while clearing it, and Hatsukaze & Kiyoshimo, the other two destroyers that were still missing, came to me while I was clearing E-2. So in the end I called it quits after just one week and threw the rest of my resources into LSC. Which was probably a good decision because I finally got Bismarck, whom I then levelled in event maps among other places.

Admiral Log - Spring 2015

Lol, this event... Pacman

When the devs announced that this event was going to last about 3 weeks I was like "OH SHIT!" because the last time we got an event this long was AL/MI, which I'm sure everyone has "fond" memories of. It didn't get better when they declared it a large-scale event, and when they announced the glorious return of ship locking a lot of people started to panic, expecting AL/MI 2.0 with even more bullshit. While I myself wasn't exactly panicking I started hoarding resources just to be on the safe side, especially because I was going to clear all maps on Hard Mode. Then the actual event happened, which managed to subvert my expectations in more ways than one...
E-1 shouldn't even be worth the mention. It was just like Fall E-2, but even easier. Deploy a bunch of light cruiser and destroyers against easy enemies. Basically a Prototype gun for free.
There's not much to say about E-2 either. Sure, Combined Fleet meant a somewhat increased resource consumption, but that's it. There were virtually no restrictions on which ships I could use, so I just went all out with my carriers and torpedo cruisers. Yet again an easy map with nice rewards.
Starting with E-3 I had to deal with ship locking, so no more steamrolling with my best ships. I used a rather light fleet without battleships because I needed them for later and in order to avoid the 2nd shelling phase against Nagano on the 2nd node. The boss node had a battleship and Tsu, but nothing my fleet couldn't handle. I was going to farm this map for Takanami, but luckily I didn't have to because I got her immediately on my first boss kill.
E-4 didn't pose much of a challenge either. Sure, I had to use a Combined Fleet again, but the boss was so unimpressive that most of the time I beat her in day battle despite the fact that she didn't take that much damage as an installation. Oh well, I got Littorio, so I can't complain.
At first I thought E-5 would be a challenge since it's an Extra Operation map. Turned out I was wrong. Bringing two Mogami-class sisters for special branching pretty much destroyed any semblance of difficulty. The first battle node was piss-easy, followed by a night battle node that rarely sent me home, and after that straight to the boss. The boss was yet again an installation, but this time everyone was equipped with Sanshiki, so damage wasn't a problem. I even got a Maruyu as a nice bonus.
E-6 was where things got interesting. I never would have thought that passing through a night battle node with a Battleship Princess would be the EASY route, but as it turned out she was pretty much harmless. Even her Cut-Ins rarely hurt. But after her came the Carrier Princess, where everything boiled down to praying that she either missed completely or dealt only moderate damage. Fortunately the Fleet Command Facility helped a lot. The boss node itself was a joke compared to the last event; I could get S-Ranks almost consistently. Well, if my fleet reached the boss in one piece, that is. Anyway, even the Last Dance wasn't that hard; I needed only two tries. The first one failed because CV Hime wrecked my Mutsu on the pre-boss node. Poi had to escort her back home, so I was lacking some damage potential. In the end KTKM managed to kill the Battleship Water Demon with a Cut-In. Got my Akitsushima, a second FuMo 25 Radar, more medals and dat Class A Medal. Cleared everything on Hard Mode, but it was then that the true horror began...
With E-6 out of the way, I had to deal with E-7 & E-8, getting Sakawa & Roma respectively. Way too many sorties to E-6, but only shitty drops. CV Hime also started to wreck my ships more often, which didn't help matters. At least she dropped a Maruyu when I went in for the revenge kill. Countless sorties later I was about to give up when I finally got Sakawa at the boss node, which motivated me enough to continue farming. Then on the very next sortie I got to the boss in one piece, got S-Rank and finally Roma. Yep, I was done with the event. Got everyone I wanted.
I was expecting the worst, but in the end this event was so easy. Not quite Fall 2014 level, but fairly close.

What is this? WHAT IS THIS?!? WHAT IS MY LIFE?!?!? WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS?!? FUCK THIS PIECE OF SHIT EVENT!!! FUCK EVERYTHING!!! I'M DONE! I'M FUCKING DONE!!! THIS IS BULLSHIT! THIS IS FUCKING BULLSHIT!!

Main Operation
WHAT WERE THE DEVS THINKING?!?!? Large-scale event? Fine. Shiplocking? Meh, whatever. It's not like we haven't had all this before.
Seven maps?! Four ship locking tags?! Only three weeks (plus a one-week extension. How merciful...)?! ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?!? I had my suspicions from the start, but this event shaped up to be the worst fucking bullshit since AL/MI, if not worse than that, something I never would have thought to be possible... I'm so glad I waited for a like a week before tackling this event, because if I hadn't would have been screwed royally by the branching rules and other shit...
E-1 was just boring, and the Kikuzuki branching turned it into something I could have cleared while half-asleep. On a different note: every other event had some standard enemy ship as E-1 boss, and here they're already throwing the Destroyer Princess at you? Seriously?! I mean, it's not that she was hard to deal with, but it was a taste of all the horrible things to come...
E-2 was boring as well. South route with Surface Task Force. No enemy carriers whatsoever, so I could stack nothing but bombers on my carriers. And yet again I'm somewhat baffled by the boss fleet. Light Cruiser Demon? Fair enough. Escorted by a Battleship Princess for the Last Dance on Medium/Hard Mode? Uh, what?! I thought this was E-2 and not some Extra Operation map. Not that this maps was hard (it wasn't), but throwing so many large ships at the player this early...?
E-3 is where my worst nightmares about this event started to seep into reality. The normal nodes weren't that difficult, albeit a bit annoying sometimes. But the boss was on a completely different level... You know what, Seaplane Tender Princess? Fuck you! Just fuck your bullshit! Destroying my ships with your air strike? If it was just you it would have been somewhat bearable, but no, of course you had to be escorted by two Aircraft Carrier Demons. Because, you know, you weren't already hard enough to kill on your own, with your bullshit armour. And then snipe one of ships with your torpedo? Then shell them to death? GTFO, you're not Re-chan! But seriously, her armour values were so ridiculous, you were basically forced to use Cut-In setups, just to have a change to deal any significant to her, let alone sink her. Luckily I got the Last Dance done on my first try thanks to my awesome support fleet. But farming this map for Mizuho? AHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHA fuck this shit!
Oh gawd, E-4... E-4 was even worse... I'm so glad I kept my entire Kongou-class among other ships for this map, otherwise I would have been fucked by the branching rules. Not that it would have mattered much because every single node was just pure, distilled bullshit. The first node? Four subs in Echelon or Line Abreast. You think that's an easy no-damage node only there to drain your fuel? Well, think again after you have to watch your ships torpedoed to death. Yes, those subs, who're either in Echelon or Line Abreast, constantly destroyed my ships, who weren't even suffering from any evasion/armour penalty due to lack of fuel, as is the case, for example, at the 1-5 boss node. Not just my destroyers, nope. Ever wanted to watch your Kongou-class battleships get OHK'd by mere subs? Visit E-4 and go knock yourself out, because you'll be seeing that a lot. And speaking of getting wrecked, forcing me to bring two destroyers into this map that is infested with nothing but Demonic Spider-tier enemies? GGWP, enjoy your 大破. I basically gave up halfway through this pile of garbage and just used full support fleets because, frankly speaking, at that point I stopped caring about my resources because I realised I'd probably save more in the long run. And that was just to get to the boss. Speaking of which, I once again question the decision making that resulted in that boss fleet. Facing Henderson was bad enough, but having her escorted by two Black Ruck Shooters?!?!? WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?!? I somehow managed to whittle down the boss gauge, but then true nightmare started... I was taking the north route all this time, but then I suddenly couldn't anymore. The enemies received such a huge upgrade that it was flatout impossible for even my battleships to get to the boss in one piece, not to mention my destroyers. So what alternative was left? Well, once again a sub node full of shit, but this time followed by two night battle nodes... Oh joy... the only saving grace was that I didn't have to waste resources on normal node support anymore because it can't hit subs anyway and simply can't trigger at night battle nodes. Not that it would have mattered much because, well... I know many of you already complain when there's a single night battle node, so you can imagine how horrible two in a row can be. Especially when there's virtually no room for night battle equipment. So yeah, many, many retreats, way too many resources wasted for nothing. After I don't know how many tries I finally managed to beat this fucking map. Going back to farm Umikaze? AHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAH No!

Extra Operation
Really...? I mean, really...? After all the hell I had to go through, THIS is supposed to be an Extra Operation? I know, ships used here couldn't be used anywhere else, not even E-7, but still... I could have used a complete garbage fleet and still would have cleared it easily, even without the Akitsushima branching. At this point I stopped giving a fuck and used my Pasta ships just to get it over with. Which was probably a good thing, because then I had more time to deal with the true horror I was going to witness after the next map...
Deep Extra Operation Ugh, E-6 was such a pain. The boss wasn't as ridiculous as the one in E-3, but still borderline bullshit, and to compensate for that the normal nodes stepped it up a notch and were just frustrating at times. They should have just let the event end here and be done with it. Oh well, at least I got that sweet Prototype Flight Deck Catapult, so whatever.

Final Stage
I'm repeating myself, but it has to be said again...
What is this? WHAT IS THIS?!? WHAT IS MY LIFE?!?!? WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS?!? FUCK THIS PIECE OF SHIT EVENT!!! FUCK EVERYTHING!!! I'M DONE! I'M FUCKING DONE!!! THIS IS BULLSHIT! THIS IS FUCKING BULLSHIT!!
Whoever thought E-7 was a good idea deserves to be fired and other unspeakable things done to them...
Random branching... random branching... random... branching... just, what the fuck?!? You thought the enemies alone weren't bad enough already, and now you suddenly have to bring back the good old RNG bullshit...? Really...?!? I mean, literally every single map that came before had fixed routing, and now I have to pray not just for my ships not to get wrecked, but for them to take the right route as well...?!? The J --> Y branching is something I can somewhat understand, introducing the possibility to get sent off course when your fleet has too many battleships and/or standard carriers. But making the very first compass spin random, with the type of Combined Fleet being the only influencing factor that merely tilts the chance which starting node I'm ending up at into a certain direction instead of outright fixing it? What the hell is wrong with you?!?
And this is just the tip of the iceberg. Giving the boss an armour value so high it's above the night battle damage cap? WHAT THE FUCK?!?!? Granted, getting S-Rank at X & Y increased the critical damage against the Air Defence Princess, but this is just a stupid, fucking retarded gimmick. Decreasing her armour would have been so much better, but no, let it stay the same so that even if you farmed X&Y enough times you'd still have to hope for some random critical hits for it to even matter. Genius game design, ladies and gentlemen.
But wait, there's more. Are you a player that loves CLTs because of their torpedo strikes and boss kill potential? (By that I mean basically everyone because let's face it, CLTs are pretty much mandatory wherever they're allowed and feasible) Well, too bad! Bring even one CLT and you can't get to the boss. Ever. Way to promote Abukuma Kai-2, guys. Way to go.
I tried this fucking piece of shit that calls itself event map on Hard Mode, and I soon started to regret my decision. Never once did I manage to kill the boss. Not even once. I somehow reached the Last Dance, but after several tries I realised how futile everything I was trying was. My resources wouldn't have survived it anyway, so I sucked it up and switched to Easy Mode. I could have tried it on Medium Mode, but the rewards simply weren't worth the extra effort. In the end I cared only about Teruzuki anyway, so I'd rather get her without the e-peen medal than nothing at all.
At least I cleared everything else on Hard Mode, which was hard enough already. Farming for all these random drops was out of the question, my resources went to shit just to clear this event. Wow, I haven't been this salty since AL/MI...

Admiral Log - Fall 2015

This has to be most tedious yet hilarious ever...
After the clusterfuck that was the Summer 2015 Event I was paranoid and stockpiled like crazy. Sure, the devs said it'd be a mid-size event, but better safe than sorry. Especially after the salt from the previous event. But fortunately this event turned out to be something else entirely, for various reasons.

There is not a lot to say about E-1. I still don't know what it's a Combined Fleet map, considering that both normal nodes and the boss node were so laughably easy I could have cleared the map easily even with a single fleet. Sure, Combined Fleet allowed me to bring more ships, while branching rules would have punished me for using too many battleships and/or carriers, but why use them when cruisers work just as well? Seriously, I could have only cruisers and destroyers and still steamrolled the map. It's not like the enemies were strong, they were anything but. In retrospect I could have used a fleet that was stronger than the one I used to clear the E-1, but back then I didn't know which ships I was going to use in E-4.

Anyway, on to E-2, which had this new Transport Gauge instead of a traditional HP gauge. Now we had to pass through a certain node for resources, then get at least A-Rank at the boss to actually deplete the gauge, with the amount depending on the number of ships, their type and how many drums and/or Daihatsu boats they had equipped. A pretty funny feature if you ask me. Never before had I heard phrases like "Shit, I got sent straight to the boss!" or "I need to equip more drums!" before. Oh, and I don't actually have to sink the boss? Ever? Okay, fine then.I used Jintsuu, Hamakaze, Yukikaze, Satsuki & Mikazuki, so of course I got the best route to the boss. Satsuki & Mikazuki were pretty underlevelled compared to the rest, so I just stacked the drums on them and gave the others proper combat gear. Yet again an easy map. And also cheap on my resources.

Then came E-3, where everything went to shit. Kinda. A Combined Transporter Fleet that requires at least seven destroyers? Sure, why not? Against the Seaplane Tender Princess in Line Ahead as the boss? Uhh... no thanks! It actually wasn't that bad at first because the boss was the only difficult part of that map, but only because I had Akitsu Maru for guaranteed air superiority everywhere. Without her the boss would have been a nightmare.
I picked Easy Mode for this map. Not to clear it, mind you. As it turned out, the boss node had Mizuho & Umikaze as possible drops. If you remember my salt from the previous event, you'll know where this is going. So yeah, I put event clearing on hold and spent a shitload of buckets on farming both of them. I had to use light ships, so the resource consumption wasn't that bad. My buckets, however, weren't so lucky. I burned through at least 100 buckets and around 10k resources to get Mizuho & Umikaze, but at least I actually got them. And two Maruyus as a nice bonus. Oh well, that takes care of the ships I still needed.
Now to the main part: actually clearing E-3 on Hard Mode. Well, my resources didn't like that either. For the Easy Mode farming I used boss support just to make sure, but didn't actually need it to get S-Ranks consistently. No such luck for Hard Mode. The normals nodes now had fucking battleships among other things, so I was forced to use node support just to have a chance to get to the boss. I didn't use boss support this time because I didn't need S-Ranks anymore, so sinking the Seaplane Tender Princess was unnecessary as long as I got at least an A-Rank. Which I did most of the time, thankfully. Well, I did use both support fleets for the Last Dance because after all the resources I had to burn in E-3 for farming and actually clearing I just wanted to get it over with. Also, fuck you, AV Princess. So long, and thanks for the ships.
And this was the hardest map of the entire event. Think about it for a minute...

E-4 was a map I actually call somewhat challenging without relying on some bullshit mechanics like the aforementioned Transport Fleet. This time I could actually use a proper Combined Fleet again. Surface Task Force FTW! Once again I farmed this map on Easy Mode first, which thankfully didn't take that long because Graf Zeppelin dropped pretty fast. And another Maruyu. Hard Mode wasn't that hard bad either. The boss was rather disappointing. After everyone was done shitting their pants because OMFG SUB HIME it turned out she didn't even have a preemptive torpedo strike. I just had to get my ships to the boss and watch them destroy her. And even when she was still alive by the end of day battle, I could just finish her off in night battle. I did wreck the two installations on this map for the armour debuff, but I didn't notice a difference during the Last Dance. I sank her anyway.
Speaking of E-4, another thing I found somewhat baffling was the ship locking. Five maps in total, the first three maps shared the same tag, a unique tag for E-4, and in E-5 I could use everyone. Pretty pointless to use ship locking for a single map. Oh well...

E-5 was just boring and tedious. Once again I had to deplete a Transport Gauge, followed by an actually HP Gauge. I didn't even bother to equip drums because I was going to farm Arashi anyway, so I thought I might as well do so while clearing the map and don't use ultimately useless equipment. Easy route thanks to Sendai, Shigure & Kawakaze. At first I was a bit scared of the fact that I had to pass through two night battle nodes on my way to the boss, but as it turned out only the first one was actually dangerous. The second one consisted mainly of transporters that rarely did anything, and the two PT Imp Packs that could appear at the bottom were usually dead before they could do anything. The boss was a pain to S-Rank at first, especially when she was escorted by PTSD boats, that fucking hellspawn. Also, Arashi just refused to drop. Instead I got showered with Maruyus, Agano-class, Kongou-class and other stuff. I'm not complaining about the Maruyus though. So luck, much drop, wow.
After I unlocked the HP Gauge I sank enough imps for the debuff, which turned the boss' armour into tissue paper, which actually made S-Ranks and farming easier than expected. Heh, probably should have cleared it first. Oh well, I cleared E-5 without too many problems. And a few sorties after that Arashi finally dropped.

With all event maps cleared, all I had left to do was farming Kazagumo in E-1, who dropped pretty fast.
So yeah, that was the event. Piss-easy to clear, but tedious to farm. I got all the ships I wanted from this event, including the ones I missed in the last event. Hooray! ヽ༼ຈل͜ຈ༽ノ

Admiral Log - Winter 2016

A surprisingly short event. When they announced it to be a relatively small event I expected something like Fall 2014, but nope, it was even smaller. Doesn't mean it wasn't just easy. Difficulty-wise it was all over the place. Unless you used the historical fleets, then it was mostly piss-easy with a little bit of salt at the end.

E-1 was a joke. Sure, no Combined Fleet meant no night battle shenanigans against the Submarine Princess, but that didn't matter much because getting S-Rank at the boss node was laughably easy even on Hard Mode, except maybe when you got Head-On engagement, but even then you could still work on the HP Gauge. Sinking her on the Last Dance, however, was pretty much impossible if you got Head-On. I used a total of 6 buckets to clear this map, of which only one was needed to repair moderate damage. The rest I used on my fleet before the Last Dance because the scratch damage they'd accumulated until then got dangerously close to medium damage and I just wanted them to be in good shape for the final battle. So long, Sub Princess. And thanks for the Freedom Gun.
E-2 was a joke as well. I was farming it on Easy Mode at first because I wanted to get Okinami and assumed farming on Hard would have been painful. 100 buckets later I still hadn't got her, so I just cleared it on Hard and decided to come back later. As it turned out E-2 was piss-easy even on the highest setting, especially when using the historical fleet. The normal nodes hardly changed, and the only significant differences at the boss node were the boss formation and the type of Wa-class transporters, who ironically happened to be my biggest concern mainly because they're so tanky. Oh right, that map also had PTSD imps, which seem to have been nerfed into the ground. I still remember how annoying they were in the previous event, but this time they barely put up a fight. Anyway, the boss was easy to S-Rank even with any big ships or Artillery Spotting for that matter, so even farming wasn't a problem. And hello there, Hatsuzuki.
E-3 was where the real fun began... Once again I had to use the Transport Escort Fleet I loathe so much, and this time I had even more reasons to hate it. So-Class in Echelon or Line Abreast? Hurr durr, enjoy your 大破. It didn't help that I had to deal with two sub nodes on the way to the boss, interrupted by a surface fleet node in between. There also was an air raid node with fucking Henderson, but thankfully I could avoid it by using no slow ships. My bucket consumption obviously went up compared to the previous two maps. And then came the HP Gauge phase...
Surface Task Force & Carrier Task Force each had their own starting point, but one quick look at the carrier route was enough for me to realise it only existed for the most extreme masochists out there, so Surface Task Force it was. I picked the north route at first because I didn't want to deal with Ru Kai on top of Dyson on my way to the boss, but I soon started to regret my decision. So-Class in Echelon or Line Abreast? Herp derp, 大破 for everyone. And even if it was "only" 中破, I could have just returned to base, it wouldn't have made much of a difference. Dealing with the boss was hard enough even with a healthy fleet. Speaking of which, fuck the boss node. CA Princess? Tanky but meh. Double Dyson again? Ugh, fine. Fucking Carrier Princess? Uhm, how about no? Four enemies who are tanky as fuck, plus two troll DDs just to mess around by dodging everything? So much fun. All boss battles went like this: Sink at least 3 ships and you have a decent chance at sinking the boss. Failed? Sucks to be you. And for some reason whenever I reached the boss node everyone decided to go full retard, so only one actual boss kill before the Last Dance. Speaking of which, I don't even remember how many times I tried to get it done. But nope, even with Green T my ships dealt shitty damage while getting their asses rekt. I then reached a point where I stopped giving a fuck and for the first time since I started playing this game I used Yamato & Musashi to clear an event map. Lo and behold! First time I got to the boss with them, my ships cleared out everything for a sweet S-Rank. With Head-On engagement. RNG truly is a mystery sometimes. Anyway, Last Dance done, Zara joined my fleet for reals this time - no sneaking away anymore after doing that one expedition - and I got another e-peen medal I ultimately don't care about, complete with two regular medals I don't know what to do with. Oh well. Thankfully I didn't have to go back to this shithole for Pringles, Graf Zeppelin, etc.
Now that I'd cleared the event, back to E-2 farming for Okinami. Took me a while, but after several tries I finally got her. And even got another Akizuki from the pre-boss node. Hooray for more 10cm+AAFD guns. Not to mention a shitload of Kiyoshimo dupes I can level for their radars.
All in all it was a pretty easy event. Except maybe for the last kill in E-3, but even that was merely annoying rather than rage-inducing.

Admiral Log - Spring 2016

Remember my salt levels as I was dealing with the traumatic experiences that were Summer 2014 & 2015? No? Well, buckle up, because this is gonna be quite a ride...
I had my suspicions that this event was going to be yet another massive clusterfuck when the devs had to put off the event start by almost an entire day due to various fuckups, many of which became apparent as the event went online...

Main Operation
E-1 was pretty easy for the most part, but that's something I expect from the very first map of an event. But then again I said "for the most part" for a very specific reason. Well, actually two reasons. Everyone and everything was happy-go-lucky until you got to the pre-boss node, where the game suddenly went full Lunatic Mode and threw either CV Princess or fucking Dyson at you. Against a fleet that consisted mostly of destroyers due to the branching rules. Thank Ooyodo for her Fleet Command Facility, otherwise this map would already have been a nightmare. The boss fleet on the other hand was so piss-easy it made me wonder if the devs even bothered.
E-2 was where things got interesting for all the wrong reasons. Reasons which I will elaborate on later because the problem actually transcends level boundaries. Did I mention that this event was a massive clusterfuck? This isn't even the main course yet, we're still getting started. Anyway, people who'd been to 6-4 or E-2 of the previous event already had a good idea of what to expect, as this map was fairly similar. The devs wanted to push their new installation gimmick, and they pushed it hard. Forcing me to use a super light fleet for the best routing? Sure, whatever. Throwing DJ Princess, PTSD demons and those fucking Pillboxes at me, forcing me to use Mutsuki-class DDs etc. because I needed Daihatsu landing crafts and all that specialised shit? Uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuh... fuck you too. It wasn't too bad in the end, but only because I had all the necessary equipment, which brings me to the point I brought up earlier and that becomes relevant on the following map.
E-3 was your basic run-of-the-mill transport map that required a Combined Transport Fleet. Nothing special, though the routing once again favoured those lunatics that had Chitose & Chiyoda in their AV forms because they could provide easy AS+ and were fast ships, which the best route required. Anyway, the map itself was pretty easy, but the biggest fuck-you was in the details. You see, the first two nodes of the shortest route both had a chance to drop I-401 and U-511. While the former is nice to have, the latter is where the problems lies. What's U-511's stock equipment? Wurfgerät 42. What's it strong against? Installations. Now which map in this event had an installation as boss--- oh right, E-2. The previous map. So here we have a scenario that completely screws over new players. Don't have enough or any anti-installation equipment? Go farm U-511. Too bad that you could only farm her in E-3, which obviously required clearing E-2. But wait, the E-2 boss is an installation that requires anti-installation equipment such as the aforementioned Wurfgerät to defeat more reliably. A piece of equipment that is unbuildable and at that time only available by farming E-3. See the problem here? It's just one of many, as the later maps were happy to demonstrate. Oh well, at least I got more subs and Kamikaze.
E-4 basically was E-1 on steriods, but still merely annoying. Hooray for Dyson on the pre-boss node. And don't forget Ru Kai & Wo Kai before that. Fuck you too, thank you very much. This also was the first map where we could use land-based air groups. They didn't do much, but at least they helped a little, especially against Dyson. All in all a not too difficult map.
Spoiler: this is where the fun ended.

Extra Operation
E-5 surprised me because in a unique twist this map actually was optional, as in, I didn't have to clear it in order to progress to the next two maps. However, in this case "optional" really meant "Sure, you don't have to clear it. But then you won't get Pola and the second air group, the latter of which will royally screw you over on E-6 & E-7. So, whatever floats your boat, man". It basically was E-2 on steroids - notice a pattern here? - that once again forced me to use a light fleet against bullshit normal nodes and an even worse boss node. You look so different, Henderson, and yet you're still as full of shit as your previous incarnation. And for those that remember my clusterfuck comment from the beginning, here is where the bug and glitch fest that is this game went full retard. Apparently the boss fleet was supposed to launch air raids against my land base during the sortie. Too bad it didn't. Well, good for me, actually. But even worse was the fact that my bomber runs against the boss were rendered almost completely ineffective due to the very same bugs. Hooray! They eventually managed to fix that along with a plethora of other bugs and glitches, but the fact that so many crept into the game without the devs noticing was and still is just baffling to me. Anyway, I needed a few tries to get the Last Dance done, but it still wasn't as bad as what awaited me on the next map...

Deep Extra Operation
Here I was, going deeper into the shit hole that was this event. It's even in the map description. That alone should have tipped me off. Unfortunately it didn't. This map had a "fun" debuff gimmick that did nothing more than force me to go to a three nodes and S-Rank them. Oh, and get a perfect air defence on the air raid node in E-5 for good measure. It was actually pretty easy, which made what followed all the more infuriating. If you have ever wondered what a boss node from hell would look like, look no further than E-6. Central Princess, Dyson, old Henderson with new bullshit planes, rage mode DJ Princess, two Pillboxes. Everything your heart desires as it contemplates suicide. But nothing beats what basically was the only surefire method to beating the boss: you had stack everything with dive bomb stats and hope the boss got nuked to smithereens by the opening air strike. Seriously, that's it. But wait, what if the boss survived? Well sucks to be you, fuck off and try again. Shelling did next to nothing against the boss fleet, and good luck have your ships aim at the boss in night battle. And to top it all off the only route that had a 100% routing and was feasible didn't allow enough carriers to make the magic happen. The route that allowed the maximum number sent you through more nodes than all previous maps combined, so yeah, good luck with that. So all that was left was a route where whether you took the shortest or longest route was decided randomly. Yes, no fixed routing. Pray to RNG or GTFO. I don't even remember how many runs I needed to get the job done, but I was this close to switching to Easy/Medium because I didn't want to deal with that bullshit anymore. Luckily I did get the miracle air strike in the end.

Final Stage
Welcome to the final stage of grief and suffering. Enjoy your stay. I sure as hell didn't. Farming Harukaze didn't take that long, fortunately. Oyashio on the other hand did, but the node was easy, and when it's a Kagerō-class DD I'm contractually obliged to keep going. Now to the clearing part...
Think of everything that you hate about an event, then throw it into a single map. Welcome to E-7, where Dyson, troll subs and other bullshit ruin your day every day. Abyssal Arizona wasn't too happy about my progress, even though she started to show some skin, but not in a good way. The boss node was once again an ensemble of your worst nightmare plus a few new ones, and basically boiled down to this simple question: Did your land-based bombers kill and/or damage enough ships? No? Congratulations, your fleet doesn't matter as it can't do shit to finish off the rest. The Ancient Princesses deserve special mention since land-based bombers were the only thing that could reliably kill them. Oh, they survived? Too bad, their bullshit armour ensured that they'll survive the day battle, and in night battle their ridiculous evasion started to shine even more than it already did during the day. I also didn't help that the boss had an HP pool that was bigger than the GDP of the United States. The Last Dance quickly devolved into a giant shit show that started to suck out any semblance of fun and motivation I had left to keep it going, not to mention that I only had a few hours left until the end of the event, so I bit the bullet and cheesed the map the easy way. At that point I didn't care anymore, I just wanted to get Iowa. Which I did. Oh, glorious Manifest Breastiny.
And this concluded yet another event. Apart from all this rage-inducing moments I was still happy because thanks to the Shioi drop in E-3 I was finally able to complete my kandex. Took me long enough.

Admiral Log - Summer 2016

After the clusterfuck that was the previous event this one felt like a vacation. In more ways than one...

Main Operation
E-1 was a brain-dead submarine map, so there's not much to talk about. Nimu dropped here, so of course I farmed her on Easy Mode before switching to Hard Mode for the juicy rewards. Thankfully it didn't take that long. The boss was everyone's favourite Submarine Princess, and just like last time she simply refused to shut up, so I just muted the game.
E-2 was a joke. I steamrolled that map so hard, I didn't even need support fleets even though to boss was Booty Dyson. Nothing special dropped here though. The only noteworthy drop I got was Kashima. Oh yeah, and Minazuki as reward. E-3 is where things got mildly interesting. There was a debuff gimmick that weakened the pre-boss node, but that's about it. Farming this map for Aquila proved to be an exercise in frustration. The boss was a pushover, but the Double Booty formation on the preceeding node were having none of it and kept sending me back home even on Easy Mode. Fleet Command Facility would be the obvious answer here, but it didn't help that much when more than one of my ships got rekt. Anyway, it took a while, but she dropped eventually. Clearing the map was about as annoying, but I don't want to imagine how frustrating it would have been if I hadn't used the full historical fleet. Seriously, seven historical ships were required for the best route. Oh well, more land-based bombers for me.

Extra Operation
E-4 turned out to be the only real challenge of this event mainly because of all the nodes I had to go through for the debuff and the length of this map in general. Land-based air groups didn't help me that much at the boss because I needed them elsewhere. Everything went swimmingly until the Last Dance where everything went to hell. The boss just refused to die. I don't know how much runs I did, I stopped counting after a while. But a few hours before maintenance a miracle happened. With both Booty Dysons still alive, Pringles finally triggered her torpedo cut-in and nuked the boss. And hello there, Warspite.
Also, I'm gonna miss the Summer CGs.

Admiral Log - Fall 2016

Hooray, another event with a schizophrenic difficulty curve.

Main Operation
E-1 was once again a brain-dead submarine map with Submarine Princess as the boss. And yes, she still refused to shut up.
E-2 was another "hurr durr, medium fleet against Wo Kai" pain train, and it didn't help that when I was farming the boss node for Yamakaze I got almost every single Kaze in the game except Yamakaze. I knew she was shy, but this was ridiculous. Clearing the map took a few runs, but in the end it was nothing special. E-3 had a boss debuff gimmick that in a surprising twist transcended map boundaries. Not only did I have to S-Rank certain nodes in E-3, but also go back to E-2 and do the same there. It wasn't hard, just time-consuming. The boss was rather challenging, but at least I was using a full historical fleet, so getting there was pretty easy. Anyway, got the Baguette Boat.

Deep Extra Operation
Fuck E-4 and whoever came up with it. I once again missed the clue and went deep into the shit hole. The transport phase was relatively easy, but the boss was a giant fuck you to anyone who even considered Hard Mode. Air raid that destroyed everything. Troll subs. Fucking four Ru-class BBs. Another air raid. And the boss which is a Combined Fleet. Against my single fleet. That consisted mostly of light ships because otherwise the routeing would have been worse. Terrific. I honestly don't know how many runs I did for the Last Dance, but after four days without any success I bit the bullet and switched to Medium because fuck this shit. No Prototype Catapult for me, but whatever, I still have the one I got last summer.

Final Stage
E-5 didn't take that long because when I unlocked it I had only four hours left before maintenance, so I made the corresponding decisions. The debuff was annoying, and so were the normal nodes. The boss went down quickly because apparently the devs fucked up again and made land-based bombers completely immune to Abyssal Combined Fleet AA, so they just roflstomped everything. And anyone that somehow managed to survive didn't last long against Team Radiation. Anyway, hooray for Saratoga. And to top it all off I even got Asakaze 30 minutes before maintenance.

Admiral Log - Winter 2017

This event was okay.

Main Operation
E-1 was... a map. Its difficulty can be described as "even easier than Orel Cruising". I didn't even know that was possible. Seriously, all you had to do was to give your subs all the seaplane bombers you had and send them on a sightseeing tour. There was no boss, only a goal point like the one in 1-6. And if you were feeling particularly adventurous you could bring a surface fleet to farm the last combat node for subs.
E-2 was a transport map of the worst kind. What do you mean, you don't have any Kamikaze- or Mutsuki-class DDs? Well, enjoy the shitty routing. It also was the first map ever where you could go through a combat node twice in a single sortie. Luckily I had the required ships, and they even had decent levels because I levelled them for the lulz. It was nonetheless an aggravating map. Using both support fleets didn't change that. At least Fujinami dropped on my third run. But an event map wouldn't be completely without some kind of bullshit gimmick. When the transport gauge went below 25% my historical Combined Transport Fleet was forced to go through the an additional combat node even though I was using the fleet specifically in order to avoid that node. Fuck you too, devs. So after several attempts I gave up and switched to a Carrier Task Force that got the job done. Hello there, Matsukaze.

Final Stage
E-3 was really frustrating to farm. I-13 could drop even on A-Ranks, but for me she didn't, so I had to kept resetting the map until she finally decided to show up. Then I had to do the whole transport shit all over again and apply both debuffs. Speaking of which, hello there, Re-chan. Fancy meeting you here. Please go home. The Last Dance was once again an exercise in frustration as my land-based bombers did jackshit at the boss and my ships didn't fare much better. I kept trying for three whole days, but no success. Three hours before maintenance I decided to give one more try before switching to Medium or Easy, and when I got to the boss my bombers actually managed to sink one CV Princess and heavily damage the other one. During night battle it all went down to triggered or didn't trigger her cut-in. I was about to scream when Pringles failed to trigger hers, but KTKM saved the day and nuked the boss anyway. Yay, more subs.
