Tone Kai (50): 3x 20.3cm, 61cm Quad O2 (didn't realize that I forgot to change her equipment)
Ise Kai (60): 46cm x2, Type 91 AP, Type 21 Radar (forgot to put seaplane)
Hyuuga Kai (46): 46cm, 41cm, Type 0 Recon, Type 21 Radar
Chikuma Kai (50): 2x 20.3cm, Type 0 Recon, Type 21 Radar
Ryuujou Kai (64): Type 97 Skilled, Type 21 Skilled, Suisei 12A, Saiun
Zuihou Kai (55): Reppu Kai, Ryuusei Kai, Type 99 Egusa, Type 2 Recon
Had another Reppu previously but swapped it out, went from Air Superiority to Air Parity at Node I IIRC.
Used Echelon, Echelon, Diamond, Line Ahead.
Update 1: Gave Tone same setup as Chikuma, swapped radar with seaplane on Ise, swapped yellow planes with Suisei 12A And Ryuusei Kai respectively. For some reason I kept missing at the boss node but managed to clear it during night battle.
Update 2: Cleared E-1 after a few more tries. Was using CL and DD at first but switched to another CA and BBV since they were getting damaged badly (they weren't very high levelled). Pretty doable if I manage to survive the sub and night battle.
Seems like once you reach node I, it's a 50/50 chance to go to the boss or the dead end node if you have the minimum LOS requirement. I had around 320ish LOS and made it to the boss the first two times, but got stuck in an unlucky chain of dead ends. I tried to boost my LOS to 330 to see if there was a difference but it still sent me down to the dead end node. Thus I ended up going back to my original setup(above) since the increase in LOS did nothing.
Haguro Kai Ni (CA), Tone Kai (CA), Haruna Kai Ni (FBB), Kirishima Kai Ni (FBB), Chitose Kai Ni (CVL), Chiyoda Kai Ni (CVL)
I don't have the exact equipment I had attached before starting E-2, but all were with a Type 22 radar, except the CVLs. Before getting LoS over 400, always went to Node J (if I even made it that far)
If I remember correctly, after struggling with it, I had: CAs had 20.3s plus Recon planes, FBBs had 1 46, 1 35.6 (the ones from Haruna) and Recon planes, then the CVLs were different; Chitose had Reppus, Saiun, Carrier-based Recon, and Repair Team; Chiyoda had Reppu, Ryuusei, Tenzan and Repair Team
Jun'you ( Lvl 18 ) Type 99 Dive Bomber x2 , Type 52 Zero Fighter x2
Hiyou Kai ( Lvl 28 ) Suisei x2 , Type 52 Zero Fighter x2
Haruna Kai ( Lvl 31) 41cm Twin Gun Mount , 35.6cm Twin Gun Mount x2, Type 0 Recon Seaplane
Ashigara ( Lvl 18 ) 20.3cm Twin Gun Mount x2 , Type 0 Recon Seaplane
Tone ( Lvl 16 ) 20.3cm Twin Gun Mount x2 , Type 0 Recon Seaplane
Myouko ( Lvl 13 ) 20.3cm Twin Gun Mount x2 , Type 0 Recon Seaplane
from what I could make out I have had enough LoS to supposedly reach the boss node without the seaplanes but after 2 days and nearly 100 runs I had not managed to reach the boss node once, upon changing my builds over to double strike using seaplanes I have had 3 / 3 runs not sure if this is RNG or if it required a certain number of seaplanes. other admirals I know have had similar but less extreme results making me think it isn't just LoS but maybe there is a gear check for recon / seaplanes
- CA: Ashigara 改 (46) - 2x 20.3cm, Type 0 Recon, Air 21 Radar
- CL: Sendai 改二 (61) - Type 93 Sonar, Star Shell, Night Recon Scout
- CVL: Chitose 改二 (61) - Reppuu, Type 62 Zero F/B, Ryuusei Kai, Saiun
- CVL: Jun'you 改 (67) - Reppuu, Type 62 Zero F/B, Ryuusei Kai, Saiun
Generally the most consistent setup I've used so far, with a 100% boss kill rate if the fleet survives the third node with no ships heavily damaged. I've noted that switching one of the FBBs for a BBV with identical equipment always sends the fleet away from node K. I have a sonar to quickly kill the sub in A, and night combat equipment for H, which appears to work in the majority of cases.
Lv55 Chitose (CVL) - Tenzan Model 12 (Tomonaga Squadron), x2 Shiden Kai 2 (Violet Lighting), Type 21 Air Radar
Lv55 Chiyoda (CVL) - Type 97 Torpedo Bomber (Tomonaga Squadron), x2 Shiden Kai 2 (Violet Lighting), Type 21 Air Radar
Lv34 Fusou (BBV) - x2 41cm, Type 0 Recon Seaplane, Type 14 Air Radar
Lv29 Yamashiro (BBV) - x2 41cm, Type 0 Recon Seaplane, Type 21 Air Radar
Initially I ran Zuiuns on BBV and ASW on CL, it was not the best of ideas, since BBV contributed little in battle and when I got to the boss, I didn't even get a chance to dent it. Upon realizing I only have to pray for 1 or 2 miss from 1st node's sub, I dedicated my CL to night battle. This made my run drastically easier: 1st node, Aerial combat took out half the enemy, sub missed, and BBV/CA finished off the rest of the team. sub missed during shelling and suffered enough hits from CL and CVL to not shoot another torpedo. 2nd node, due to the night equips, my team crit and avoid twice as much as before, and I got out with an S suffering only very little hp loss. 3rd node, I scored easy air superiority and dodged most of the shot, fairly straightforward. Boss node was just cakewalk at this points, everyone except CL was able to destroy enemy and the setup allows double attack. If night battle was necessary, equips are included to turn it a sure-victory. With this setup, I was able to beat E-1 consecutively 6 times; first one being a fail, it took me 7 runs to beat E-1. With this information in mind, I wish you all fellow teitoku good luck.
Due to the nature of this setup, it is fine to go line abreast at node A (in fact, it's encouraged). This I did, which also increased evasion there. The BBVs' presence allowed me to deal extra scratch damage to the enemy to reduce damage taken in the torpedo phase (because they got crit to orange). The shelling damage in line abreast, while low, is at least accurate.
At the night battle node B, I went line abreast as it is a good balance of evasion (second after echelon) and accuracy (a lot more accurate than echelon). Boss node is line ahead of course.
All have max modernisations except a few AA points for Верный. Not that it should matter since this route doesn't have any carrier encounters.
Mostly stuck to this setup after initially failing to reach the boss after 10 sorties. Had to exchange alot of aux stuff for LOS equipment which could've helped kill stuff easier. Also had to give up a ship slot for ASW duty to get rid of the annoying troll sub in Node A. Had KTKM and Tone in double attack setup so they can wreck shit at night node. Haruna is the pinch hitter in case Black Ri Shooter refuses to go down. Chitose and RJ are mainly just to meet the LOS requirement with a Saiun each, secure AS+ for artillery spotting, and they get rid of trash sometimes during shelling phase, but not that great.
Formations in order of A-H-I-K : Abreast, Echelon, Double Line, Ahead
-- Ryuujou [LV77] : 62 Zero Fighter Bomber, Ryuusei Kai, Type 2 Recon Plane, Suisei 12A
-- Hiyou [LV70] : Ju c87 Kai, 97 Torpedo Bomber, 97 Torpedo Bomber, Type 21 Air Radar
Actually this is my 3rd fleet, changing several times but this one felt right for me. I rarely develop equipment so i use whatever useful and also get my LoS higher.
I always try to sparkle everytime I went to E1, it helps a lot. Yuubari's role is to quickly kill the troll sub on the first node, also giving 2 yellow cannon so it's still have much firepower to kill on night battles (she always kill the boss whenever i enter night battle). Accidentaly sunk Mikuma at the boss node because i felt so eager to beat it, and it actually sunk at the very last shot by the boss. Hyuuga is your best bet here on preboss node, having planes to destroy some of enemies' planes help you to get our of this annoying preboss unscatched.
Felt very lucky finishing E1 especially with the drops, even though Mikuma sunk.
Formations : Abreast, Echelon, Diamond, Ahead
Everyone seems to go with Double Line on preboss, but Diamond works very well for me.
Comments: Hyuuga Kai runs Zuiuns in order to deal just enough damage to the sub in A to prevent it from launching its second salvo, while the 2 CAs and Ise deal with the rest of the ships. This is to reduce the damage needed for the CVLs to deal to the sub, so that they can equip Saiun to achieve the LOS requirement. Drastically increased my success rate on the first node while not affecting the rest.
Route - the nodes or the direction your fleet went: A-H-I-K
Fleet Composition: 2 BBV 2CVL 1CA 1CAV
Hyuuga: 46 | 41 | 2xZuiun
Chiyoda: Reppu | Shinden Kai 2 | Type 97 (Tomonaga) | Saiun
Kumano: 2xZuiun | 2x20.3
Maya: Type 22 Surface Radar | Type 0 Recon | 2x20.3
Chitose: 2xReppu | Ryuusei Kai | Saiun
Ise: 46 | 41 | 2xZuiun
Comment: Just use Line Abreast for Node A & H, Double Line for I and Line Ahead for Boss. There's a troll submarine but you have to deal with it seriously, so that it can't fire torpedo at the torpedo shelling phrase, you will pass the map easier.
So, after 3 days of RNG, and numerous lineups including Shigure 89, Yuudachi 90, and Maya 82. Finally ended on this build and finally got somewhere. 1 clear down, 5 to go. Thank you, whoever left the tip:
An alternative to using Yuubari for ASW is to use a CLT with 1 sonar, 1 depth charge, 1 midget sub. CLT are much more durable and have preemptive torpedo attack in exchange for lack of night double attack.
Made a huge difference. I just hope I dont regret locking one of my only two high level CLTs.
- Ryojyo Lv. 39 Kit: Type 99 Dive Bomber, Ryuusei, Saiun, Type 21 Radar
Swapped Ise / Suzuya's Zuiun'ss for Type 0's to ignore enemy sub and deal more damage to enemy fleet. Support Exp. was not needed, retreated most of the time due to enemy DD in night node one shot critical hitting RJ.
Tone Kai [lvl 40] : 2x 20.3cm Twin Gun Mount,Type 21 Air Radar,Type 0 Recon Seaplane
Chikuma Kai [lvl 40] : 2x 20.3cm Twin Gun Mount,Type 21 Air Radar,Type 0 Recon Seaplane
Nagato Kai [lvl 51] : 2x 46cm Triple Gun Mount,Type 21 Air Radar,Type 0 Recon Seaplane
Hiyou Kai [lvl37] : Shinden Kai 2,Suisei,Ryuusei Kai,Saiun
Junyou Kai [lvl37] : Shinden Kai 2,Suisei,Ryuusei Kai,Saiun
Note; I accidentally use Nagato on Al this map so I figure that I should use her untill I finish Al Note2; It take me a lot of time to form this formation since if I use DD I couldn't reach the LOS requirement and I don't have any CAV(Except MOgami which I got a dozen of her)
CLT Kitakami Kai [lvl 18] : 2x Tyle A Ko-hyoteki (miget sub) LOS 13 (13 base)
CVL Junyou [lvl 11] : 4x Type 97 Torpedo Bomber LOS 44 (40 base + 1 for each bomber)
BB Haruna Kai [lvl 31] : 1x 41cm Twin Gun Mount, 1x 15.5cm Triple Gun Mount (Secondary), 2x Type 0 Recon Seaplane LOS 35 (25 base + 5 for each recon)
DD Hibiki Kai [lvl 41] : 3x 61cm Quad (Oxygen) Torpedo Mount LOS 20 (20 base)
BBV Ise Kai [lvl 12] : 1x 41cm Twin Gun Mount, 1x 15.2cm Naval Gun, 2x Zuiun LOS 35 (23 base + 6 for each Zuiun)
CVL Shouhou Kai [lvl 29] : 4x Type 97 Torpedo Bomber LOS 51 (47 base + 1 fr each bomber)
Hibiki Kai was very useful for ASW (base 38; better choice than Isuzu since the total torpedo stat for Hibiki was 109, compared to my Isuzu's 51 and firepower 49, compared to 40). Hibiki was quite helpful in night battle at H as well.
Since they had only 1 CVL at I (for me, at least) I didn't really bother with anti air, instead spamming weapons to fight surface ships.
The aircraft in the BB and BBV were mainly just there for LOS and to do cut-in attacks in day battles.
Used double line for all nodes to improve shell hit rate.
