The resulting speed depends on equipped boilers and vary for each ship girl, as they have different speed characteristics
Allows to upgrade Slow (低速) speed to Fast (高速). However, that doesn't change the ship type, slow BB and BBV can have Fast speed, but still aren't FBB, so they still can't be used in the Combined Fleet escort fleet and don't count as FBB for branching
For instance, in Fall Event E3, a fleet with Fast Nagato (synergy setup) in the main fleet can go from B to E if other requirements are met
But in 2-5, if you put Fast Nagato together with 3 FBB and 2 CV into the fleet, it will always go to dead end, as the amount of FBB in the fleet is still 3
A fleet including ships with speed higher than fast is still a fast fleet
Currently, ships with speed higher than fast only have evasion gain, in future there will be maps and situations in which they can be effective

02 Seasonal CG added to Kandex
Various seasonal CGs that were implemented throughout the last couple of updates have been added to the Kandex entry of the respective Kanmusu. Furniture and Quest Ooyodo have reverted to their usual.
03 "Revised Kanpon Turbine" Utilities Expanded
The utility "Engine Improvement" type equiment Revised Kanpon Turbine" has been expanded, so that it may now be equipped to the expansion slot. "Revised Kanpon Turbine" and "Improved Kanpon Boiler" will be obtainable through new quests.
04 "Engine Improvement" Equipment's Synergy Effect Implemented
By equipping "Engine Improvement" type equipments "Revised Kanpon Turbine" and "Improved Kanpon Boiler" together, you will be able to fundamentally improve the kanmusu's engine parts, to increase their ship speed. In other words, Kanmusu's that are usually "slow" can be turned into "fast" ships.
05 Additional Explanation on "Engine Improvement" Equipment's Synergy Effect 1/3
"New High Temp High Pressure Boilers" will have the same or greater synergy effect compared to the "Improved Kanpon Boiler". *There will be different speed potentional depending on the Kanmusu-type, so the synergy effects/procs may differ.
08 Akashi's Improvement Arsenal Menu Update: Enhanced Kanhon Type Boiler is now available to be upgraded with the support of a certain ship. Also the higher level equipment New Model High Temperature High Pressure Boiler can also be upgraded. The Supporting Ship's availability date will be slightly updated.
09 New "Akashi's Improvement Arsenal" Menu Implemented 2/3
New Menu has been implemented for Akashi's Improvement Arsenal. Through support of a specific Kanmusu, you will be able to improve "New High Temp High Pressure Boiler".
10 New "Akashi's Improvement Arsenal" Menu Implemented 3/3
New Menu has been implemented for Akashi's Improvement Arsenal. Through support of a specific Kanmusu, you will be able to upgrade "F4F-4" to "F6F-3. Also, "F6F-3" will be further improvable.

Around 10 destroyer kanmusus, including Mutsuki, Ushio, Okinami, Asakaze, Yamakaze and more will be gaining a time-limited "Winter" seasonal voice lines.
Aside from opening the expansion slot for engine-related equipments, if you put BOTH Improved Kanhon Turbine AND Enhanced Kanhon Boiler on a slow ship girl, she well become "fast". Both equipments are availbale through new quests.
For the ship category of FBB, only "natural" FBBs count.
In other words, you CAN use the new system to make Yamato join a "Fast" fleet, but you cannot make her to be counted as an FBB in branching.

And I wished I had waited. Just opened a couple of reinforcement slots on a few subs with the hope of equipping the +13 turbine, but alas its not possible. Still, +6 evasion is better than nothing, which is about a ~12% increase give or take for most SS(V)
How about Iowa? Historically her "standard" boilers are already working under the same (or even higher) pressures of the so-called "high-temp high-pressure" new Kanhon boilers, so maybe she won't benefit from the Japanese "new" boilers?
I don't have a boiler myself so I can't test it, sorry for having to ask for help.
Also, the twitters stated that the Amatsukaze boiler would have better effect than the Enhanced Kanhon Boiler, can someone try it out, too?
i think this is just like OASW system, some ship exclusively able to go fastest with the standard 1 turbine + 1 amatsukaze boiler while the other didn't. and giving 1 turbine + 1 non amatsukaze boiler to ship that got fastest speed with 1 turbine and amatsukaze boiler did not let them go fastest only fast+
Ar-cen-ciel wrote: Seems like no amount of boiler would make Yuubari the "Fastest"...
kek, u're right she is just too heavy XDtried turbine + 3x new boiler and still fast+
I'm really curious about what the effects can be starting from Fast+. (inb4 ammo/fuel goes off slower, INB4 10 NODE EVENT MAPS AGAIN FKINGTANAKA, jk.)
Equipping additional boilers on a ship for more speed actually costs more fuel, especially at the flank speed.
That is the reason why Iowa is such a fuel (and ammo too, but that's for different reason) hog in Kancolle. Just like how they only really counted the maximum range for naval gun range designation, devs mainly considered Iowa's flank speed for the fuel cost calculation.
I would still prioritize the jets IMO. Turbines is a a possible distraction for the long run especially as the winter event is closing in. Don't take it so seriously. Tanaka might be planning for something.
I'm a little confused over how the Engine enhancement synergy thing works. So, if you had a fleet with five FBBs and one BB with upraded speed, you wouldn't qualify for a certain brancing route if the requirement was 6 FFBs, but you would qualify if the requirement was a fast fleet?

Certain Map needs 4 Fast Ships and 2 Fast CV's. You want BB Mutsu who's slow to be in the fleet lineup. You can give her the turbine + boiler setup to make her qualified for the branching.
Certain Map needs 4 FBB's (Classification) and 2 CV's. You want BB Mutsu to be in the lineup. Its not possible as the branching needs 4 FBB's not a certain BB or BBV.
WIth that said, certain maps need speed classification and the turbine + Boiler setup can work, but if the map needs a class specification its a different story. Speed Classification and Ship Classification are two different things.
