    • Oh, Allied stuff really has entered the game??

TBH, this depress me a bit, not because I hate the Allied or I'm on the Axis side of the war or anything. But I've always thought the day the devs introduces Allied stuff in the game is when they really have run out of content from the IJN to put in it, which spells the beginning of the end of this game.

      Hope I'm overthinking it.

maybe yes they run out IJN ships but better have foreign ship rather than dev choking us with another IJN trophy destroyers, talking about content . italans, germans still lot capital ships tho, 1 remaining battleship from both sides, mighty tirpitz, and vittorio venneto not count italian CV Aquila (though unfinish or should i say finish but she do not have a chance for trial run, almost sharing same fate with graff) and several italian heavy cruisers, but in my honest opinion, this to break all political aspect in this game about imperial japanese past axis glory, since you know united state and japan now is ally so yeah, why not

        Loading editor
    • Yeah, you're right about trophy DDs, I quite have enough of them as well.

But speaking of running out of content thing, I've been suspecting that the devs really are near that point since they've already introduced unfinished ships (Graf Zeppelin) in game. (I mean, unfinished ships... really??) Unlike Touhou, KC is based on real life (WWII) ships so surely there'll be a day they run out of the ships to put in the game.

Regarding Iowa, I don't mind having her in my fleet if my Katori's fine with that.

    • Just checked this from KC3Kai Strategy Room.

Checked the name of the equipment, on a closer look, I noticed that it says 16 inch... and make no mistake. It's the 16-inch triple gun turrets Mk7, the name that I know by heart. Bacause this is the very gun turrets that are equipped on the Iowa-class battleships.

Never in my wildest dream that Iowa-class fairies would make an appearance in Kancolle. I'd prefer to have RN ships before Iowa, but having the ever-famed Iowa-class battleships does indeed makes a good material to dispel the imperialism myth once and for all.

    • Ha. Now I can see a dozen Allied fags screaming in pure retro-pleasure.

      Well that is good.

    • Some of us (me and my friends, some of whom have reservations playing the game due to its subtle revisionism) actually look forward to seeing the Allies in-game (Italia and Verniy included), but for different reasons.

Instead of just because KC's running out of ships to implement (Graf actually paves the way for a possibility for KC to implement "paper ships" like CA Ibuki, CA Zaou, BB Tosa, etc.), it's more of striking a balance with the lineup's composition. My guess is that from the intro of the 16" /50 Mk VII, they might implement USS Iowa or USS New Jersey if the event in question is the Spring 2016, or USS Missouri if it is Summer 2016. And the dominoes fall where the Allies appear en masse.

This is actually good news to the international admiral base who are balking at the lack of Allied ships, as it gives a sense of hope for the Allies' inclusion.

(I want my Yorktown-class, Lexington-class, and Brooklyn-class...and I wonder if -Pacific-'s November entered into a deal with Tanaka but keeps it secret from the -Pacific- staff due to some kind of a confidentiality agreement, as we on the -Pacific- end have no word from November about any involvement, as the staff's pushing to be independent of Tanaka...)

Just because they introduce US shipgirls doesn't mean the game's ending or anything. They haven't even introduced ships like the Shinano, and several destroyers from the Fubuki, Shiratsuyu and Kagerou classes are still missing, and there's classes like the Matsu-class and the Taiyou-class not yet ingame.

Then you have the fact that the foreign shipgirl roster isn't even close to being finished, and are in fact underrepresented: Germany still doesn't have Tirpitz, and the Vittorio Vennetos still aren't finished.

So yes, I say you're overthinking it.

    • Well, If they introduce US Ships, GAME END / Scrapping everything i have and GTFO.

In fact i'm stopping any purchases on DMM from this point on, and waiting to see if this is really gonna happen.

Sorry, but IMO, it just feels wrong to do that to this game. Gamebreaking stuff for me.

It is happening, but why the reaction? C'mon, just let your girls have fun with their former enemy, it's not that hard.

Introducing Allied ships is a way to let the game last longer indeed, but not necessarily means the beginning of the end. Remember that all Japanese ships are supposed to have a K2.

wow there also people did not pleased with this, well if that your opinon though, but to be sure this game is fleet girl collection, so we collect ww2 antrophomorphized large chunk of scrap metal into some girls, no matter what country it is, though japanese which this belong to is former axis power, doesn't meant not allowed their former enemy usa to enter, and for godness sake this is not some kind war simulator, nor world of warship, that you must take side, beside now 2k16 germany and italia is american allies called NATO, and japan also american allies

      but i respect your opinion

    • Sshinka, you can always choose not to use them if you feel something like that, and just pretend they don't exist.

If that (those) ship(s) indeed come out later, you can put a screenshot of you sending them back to their maker.

Then you don't have the gamebreaking stuff in your base to worry about and can continue playing without scrapping every single existing ship in your base.

I've always thought the devs are gonna use Allied ships and weapons as the last resort for the game. From the number of girls you've mentioned, yeah there's still some more left. Tirpitz is the last of her class, so another class will be gone if she's implemented so I'm not sure if it's that many. But for some class, I doubt if it'll be worth it i.e. the Mutsuki class' predecessor that'll be implemented this year. How much FP are they gonna have then? 29?

Still, it's nice to hear they aren't gonna run out of ideas soon. Now what's left for me to do is to tell my girls to prepare themselves, mainly mentally. Seeing from here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T38PRsnv8Yw) what they've faced (talking purely from the girls' perspective) is gonna be quite hard to cope with and forgive. Not sure if Akashi can cure PTSD. (I've promised to all my girls I'll try with all my might not to let them die again, so bringing the ones who kill them last time into the base... isn't that sorta betraying?)

Is there a reason as to why you feel it's wrong to introduce US ships to this game? I mean, why are German and Italian ships fine, but then US ships are not?

Also, IIRC there had been plans to introduce USN ships to Kancolle as far back as 2013, but they're only coming around to doing it now.

I wonder how that far right-winger feels about the early JMSDF equipped with ex-USN vessels that fought against the IJN. eg. JDS Ariake (ex-USS Heywood L. Edwards) and Yugure (ex-USS Richard P. Leary) both took part in the slaughter of Nishimura's fleet at Surigao Strait, then served the Japanese with distinction. Introducing USN ships to Kancolle would seem to be no different.

However, considering the inferiority of Japanese AA, fire control, radar and sonar technologies relative to US tech, the stats of the 16"/50 cal Mk VII might be the US equivalent of the current 41cm triples.

I would imagine the US CXAM/CXAM-1 radars as equivalent to the Type 21 air radar KAI while the SG and SC radars are equivalent to the Type 14 air radar...

It's just that as someone who studied Naval Warfare History for many years... I am no less than disguisted by USN/WW2/Pacific. IJN Sailors were shown no quarters. After Naval battles USN Sailors would kill time by using any darker skinned heads they see at the ocean surface for target practice. During the later half of the war in Pacific Theater, despite both techological and numerical advantage, USN was plagued with incompetent commanders and crews. There are exceptions, of course.

What i'm talking about is the daily stuff like USS Iowa equiped with guns and rangefinders that were science fiction for IJN at the time, firing 56 16" shells and 129 5" shells at IJN Katori which was listing to side with reduced speed and maneuverability (as a ship that sucked at both in the 1st place). It took Iowa and the rest of her fleet over 30 minutes to sink one cheapo, barely a warship, ship. That glorious fleet consisted of Iowa (BB), New Jersey (BB), Minneapolis (CA), New Orleans (CA), Burns (DD), Bradford (DD).

Add to stuff like that all the 10 vs 1 air battles and 10 vs 1 land battles. Even the much glorified battle of Iwo Jima was 5 vs 1 with full air supperiority and ridiculous ammounts of naval shelling throughout the battle. How long it took USN to secure that piece of rock? Over a month.

In the end let me just say that i'm not someone who holds sides with Allies or Axis... that would be kinda stupid after all this time, and in short, i don't care about that stuff whatsoever.. but as someone who cares about human life other than my own...

the thing that makes me wanna barf even if i live in other time, and even after all those years have passed by since it happened, is the fact that US prevented JPN from surrendering to them for full 4 months in order to test their A-Bombs on JPN civilians.

So... i'm sorry... i don't wanna play with anthromorphised USN WW2 Ships.

US had totally different qualities at the time - for instance, the ability to produce one hundred and fifty CV/CVL/CVE from the beginning, to the end of WW2.

You're acting as though the Japanese themselves didn't have any war crimes of their own that were just as heinous during the war like the Bataan Death March, and most infamously the Rape of Nanking, and you act as though the Japanese didn't also have incompetents in their ranks: see stuff like the Battle of Cape Esperance, or the Battle of Samar where the Japanese were repulsed because thought they were fighting Heavy Cruisers and Fleet Carriers when they were actually fighting Destroyer Escorts and Escort Carriers, and Yamato herself, with the biggest guns in the fleet, couldn't even sink a single ship! (To be fair, that latter battle had incompetence on both sides). I'm also a descendant of people who lived through the Japanese Occupation of the Philippines, and heard all about the hardships they suffered in the hands of the Japanese.

And yet here you see me playing a game about anthropomorphized Japanese ships with one of them as my current wikia avatar.

WW2 is not a war of good vs evil, since all sides did commit their own brand of atrocities during the war, and where everyone acted as they did for a variety of reasons, whether it be their own self-interests or belief in something greater. Either way, as a particular poignant line mentions, World War 2 displayed both the best and the worst of humanity - not the Japanese, not the Americans, not the Germans, not the Italians, not the British, not the Soviets, but of humanity as a whole. Singling out a single one of them in my view just shows unjust bias.

Your reasons are your own yes, but I reserve the right to have the opinion that said reasons seem extremely irrational.

I find your statement ironic considering how the IJA/IJN was responsible for numerous massecres and war crimes during WWII.

I mean sure, comparing who was the biggest dick might be a futile act but seriously? If you knew about the history of Imperial Japanese brutal annexation and war tactics, you wouldn't say US was the only one who's responsble for killing innocent civies and prologing the war.

Both sides were wrong, both sides shed fair amount of blood. You just can't nitpick like that to support your "I'm not going to play this game because of USN ships!" point (unless you're a pro-Japanese right wing that is).

US had totally different qualities at the time - for instance, the ability to produce one hundred and fifty CV/CVL/CVE from the beginning, to the end of WW2.

Look, to get things answered in order:

First, the Japanese were bringing their outdated warrior culture with them to the ships; heck, their spartan choice of living quarters (which is what resulted in Ashigaras "hungry wolf" snide remark) is just a consequence of navy staff training them for a conflict with the US in the 36 years that elapsed from Tsushima to Pearl, as they saw the US in a negative light once Big Stick Teddy chose to suspend further Japanese immigration after the Russo-Japanese hissy fit. Even the US had it's share of problems too; case in point, several of Portlands crew were legally underage, not because of systems in recruitment, but because the youth themselves misdeclared their ages just to join the fight.

Second, the Americans had the guns and technology, but even THEY had problems. From faulty Mk13 torpedoes to poor handling of TBF Avengers in Midway to overconfidence in technology that resulted in them getting their aft parts kicked in Savo, Tassafaronga, Kula Gulf, and Kolombangara, they took their time to learn from their mistakes. One does not simply learn new tech in one go.

Third, the disparate ratios were just reflective of the Americans' determination to curb-stomp the Japanese for attacking a "neutral" fleet without so much as a declaration of war (no thanks to embassy staff out on a Sunday and Nomura taking too long to decipher and deliver the note). The Americans thought of the Japanese as "cowards" from this action, and they had that "no one messes with America and gets away with it" mentality.

Fourth, human life? Anyone who had the nerve to watch Grave of the Fireflies after playing the game would realize that that's the way it stays in war.

Plus, the US Navy insisted on a blockade of the Home Islands in a similar way like in the Civil War, that would have meant lesser fatalities than the US Army's choice to use strategic bombing raids. It was only the result of Operation Ten-Go that the US decided to "end the needless sacrifices" before more got hurt.

      Long text

You made it sound like IJN/IJA/IJ didn't do similar things to others. There are no flowers in war. We don't study history to feel disgusted to something in the present....we study to learn stories of the past and understand the consequence of their actions. Especially us, newer generations, if possible should remove ourselves from the hatred pass down from the past generation.

I can't believe I just had a serious discussion concerning an update in a game. If US ships wear pantyhose and ponytail then I'm a happy guy.

Not good enough, Big E should come with a good pair of big E-cup (getting bombed by a full deckload of SBD Dauntless)

    • I am sort of giving this thread one last chance really. You can talk about the gun and stuff but don't involve personal discussions or anything about political stuff and why you're against it, etc. We have a thread for that. This place is not that thread - instead we're supposed to talk about ranking rewards in general, in other words we're supposed to have a normal discussion not some troll/flaming bait discussion that ends up nowhere and people rage over it.

TL;DR much? You clearly did not read what Mikado wrote. http://kancolle.wikia.com/wiki/Thread:387849

Things is fine when you are discussing about ranking rewards but if you was actually reading this thread, you would see by yourself how badly things started to turn out. If you were actually reading, you could go over to that thread you could just talk out what you think about it. But as i clearly see it, you failed to read it and instead decide to post a useless comment about how this is not even politics or trolling. So you already broke the first rule on this thread about staying to the topic of ranking rewards. And then you decide to make fun of people that is ranking the rewards. Do you feel proud?
