As per Fujihita stated and I shall paraphrase: "Nothing about this discussion is official. Most wiki staffs have expressed indifference on the class designation and disapproval on the change. Accordingly, should edit war break out as a result of this discussion, status quo (that is the CVB designation) will be enforced. This thread is closed by the minimum one-half (6/12) administrative poll (For votes: Fujihita, Admiral Mikado, ArticaFrost, Nanamin, Dechidechi, The Lenrir)"

    • Alright I'll give it a start.

A-CV, as simply an abbreviation of "armored carrier", it's not purely a code, but thanks to that, we have no worries of historical accuracy. It's also quite intuitive, when compared to CVR.

A-CV for armored carriers only, (A)CV for both unarmored and armored standard carrier.

    • FMCV - Full Metal CV

        Loading editor
    • CVB - the code intended for Large Carrier but not Armored Carrier, however it is the current de facto way to call Armored Carrier among kancolle community.

        Loading editor
    • CVR - The idea behind this designation is that the R stands for "reinforced". In other words CVR would mean "reinforced aircraft carrier", which would be a fitting designation for the armored carrier Taihou. The merit of this proposal is that it does not collide with any existing code and thus it can avoid misunderstanding.

    • It should be called NBC clearly. What does it stand for? You can probably take a guess.

      Edit:

      NBC = NoBody Cares Carrier

    • My vote is for no change at all. The devs haven't created a new classification and neither should be impose one when an armoured CV still uses CV pathing.

    • ACV.

So similar to (F)BB(V), it can go (A)CV(L).

Until slow speed CV came out, if ever.

Or maybe like Vcharng's A-CV (with hyphens, if it's possible).

    • CV(C)

compare CL and CLT, CL mean Cruiser Light, Add on T for torpedo to get CLT

therefore CV mean Carrier aviation, Add on C for catapult to get CVC

    • CVK: CV Kou, or CV Kai (as opposed to A)

    • CVA

"Aircraft Carrier, Attack" which fits the additional FP, Armor and attack combat potential while orange.

"The designation CVA replaced both CV and CVB on 1 October 1952."
