    Hey all! 

    So over the past three weeks I've been offhandedly working on revamping the Quests page to give it a bit of an updated look; You can look at that ->here<-. Mostly only the look has changed to make it, in my mind, a bit more appealing to look at, while also fixing and summarizing some requirements and keeping it consistent.

    Now before I implement it though, I'd like to hear what you guys think. I know some of you have already commented on my Suggestions post about this, and I thank you for that. But, if you have any questions, concerns, or things you would like to be put in or taken out, let me know. Also, I haven't gotten around to writing an introduction to the page yet, but I think using the one we have now, with a bit of editing, is good enough.

      Suggested changes:

      A50 and B41

      Have Choukai Kai-2 as flagship and fill the rest of the fleet with any combination ofFurutakaKakoAoba,KinugasaYuubari, andTenryuu for a total of 6 ships. Since there are 7 ships in total one of them can't be included

      I suggested changing "and" to "or" (Yuubari or Tenryuu) and says "one of them don't need to be included" instead.

      — I am in for the new changes actually. It seems to most likely also work well with the new wikia layout.

      Although one very minor suggestion I'd like to make is that if it is possible - please make the top bar (the bar that shows ID, Quest name, Requirements and all) a floating sort of bar if possible. That way, if people scroll down for each of the sections they may not get lost. This is kind of a similar idea with how wikia does it with their navigation bar on top.

    • Suggestion: Enable the quest's table in the same category to be expandable/collapsible or show/hide, similar to how the Branching Rules can expanded.

      This will definitely make the scrolling life much easier.

    • I love new fresh LUA you did here (typoes are fixable anyway soon), the left is...

      Next stage: How do we rearchitect these tables for more strategically usable and plannable?

      I think reshape them to be clickable/selectable; like when I finished this quest A, then I checked this on the table so the next quest B is available, and so on; is what you shoud be considering next.

    • @Nicky - It's not LUA, just CSS, I know nothing of the former. But anyway, the issue there is that I don't know 100% where all the quests lead to for sure. The "Notes" section is what you should rely on because it'll tell you if the quest you're currently on is needed eslewhere.

    • @ がか Ooo! That is actually really helpful! Only issue is that it's not up-to-date, but it could help in making sure that all the links are correct.

    • That looks great, much better than the current one with the scroll bar and there are only some minor mistakes.

      -At D7 it should say "required by D8" instead of "required by D6"

      and

      -F6 is marked as Daily Quest but should be a one time quest as F2 is the Daily Quest.

      @Crazy TTK - So the stagnant navigation bar is something that might have to be handled by someone who understands CSS better. Issue is I can get it to float, but the width needs to constrain to a certain percentage for someone who has a smaller resolution. Otherwise the bar is going off the screen for those users.

      @Tnting - Trying it out, there are too many divs that get in the way of trying to create one, so that idea might not work well. I'll keep this in consideration though if I can figure out a way to make it work.

      B28 quest (sortie the 601 air group) say Unryuu kai 2, 

      And thank for your hard work, i like the new layout, dont need to scroll left and right when using a small screen.

    • Suggestion: follow wikiwiki format (see F13), roughly:

      • The first (after ID) column is for in-game name of the quest (and its translation).
      • The second column is for in-game description of the quest (translation only) AND any useful notes in a list.
      • Then reward columns.
      • Use the last column for requirements and periodicity notes only.

      That way F13 and such will look like this:

      Allright, I see the reason behind this. Required quest(s) links (and Ctrl + F key for finding related quests) are still be usable.

    • instant bookmark. great. thank you. I still don't understand about the "plane must be unlocked" part. does it mean you must upgrade the plane to +10 in Akashi's Improvement Arsenal so it can be upgraded?

      No those Model Change quests are specific for Hiryuu, Souryuu, and Unryuu. You unlock those quests by meeting the requirements of other quests. There are no quests like those that require you to upgrade equipment through Akashi as of yet.

I assume we can still fulfill the quest requirement by dismantling the planes, just that we can't get the reward unless the plane is unlocked. Requires confirmation.

      Added separators. Can't do much about the margin without sacrificing room for the text I'm afraid. Originally there was a more apparent margin, but as I said, for the sake of the text I minimized it.

    • がか; Tree drawing mode in CSS is cool but it's a bit sad story that writing a bunch of code for drawing tree connecting line in CSS is so hard.

      If you implemented that sandbox for using, I recommended giving a tree direction for viewers (users) to understand it too.

      @Qunow - There's only so much we can do for mobile users, which I don't know how many actually are mobile users, but we have to do what's right for the majority here on desktops. 

      @KusoRNG - Hmm, okay. I always thought it would only appear if you had her (speaking from not having her and the quest remaining unseen). I'll change it to that you must HAVE her in order to complete the quest instead of appear.

    • Truthfully I don't think the colors are that vomit-inducing though. I can understand the reds and yellows being a bit of an eyesore, so I get it on that part, but the other colors seem perfect to me. Regardless though I'll see if maybe changing tones will reduce the vomit-inducing-eyesore color wheel.

      Tabbers were actually my first experiement and it did not look good. Tabbers are not exactly great for navigation, and the use of CTRL + F and tags allow people to jump around the page as they please.

      It's exactly as you say. Most of the time i don't really know which quest i'm searching for, just "I knew there is that kind of reward" or "I will need that" for some quest. Then i'm doing CTRL+F to find it and look for the quest path how I can go there. That would be much more work if it got seperatet into tabbers, but probably with a Table of Content would be a good compromise.

    • If you can provide additional links in the sortie section to link to the daily/weekly/monthly as well as the top link to the sortie section that'll make scrolling easier in my opinion. But, otherwise, well done :)

      I've been attempting to hunt down cases where quest A references quest B, but quest B doesn't say it requires quest A, and doing edits on that for completeness's sake. Wouldn't want those back-links to disappear. =P

      I've merged just about everything as it was with only tiny little changes in wording. Navigation hasn't changed at all.

      I'm sorry, I'm having a difficult time understanding what you mean. There are links at the top that direct you to the sortie quests, but what do you mean by additional links?

      I roughly define 4% width for the resource columns and 55% for the Requirement column and let the Rewards column floats for now. Feel free to tweak with the width of the requirements and rewards columns to minimize the vertical height afterwards (although it's quite trivial imo).

      There're a few tips to clean up your css further (well, I didn't bother cleaning it up myself in the samples above, lazy me):

      • For table-wide properties, you only need to define it once align="center" at the table definition for example
      • Width and height are scaled across cells of the same columns/rows so you also only need to define them once at the first row of a table and the first cell of a row.
      • In Wikia, you can create custom css pages and refer to the class using verbatim tag. I believe you can ask DJ for details if you wish to go there. He has used the technique in a (rejected) wiki siderail sandbox page somewhere. After you define the custom classes and styles, you can easily apply them en mass using class="custom-class-name-here" and style="custom-header-style-1" for example.

      And of course, you can always poke Nanamin for Lua implementation Xcvbcv2352534as

    • @Fuji - Thanks for the suggestions and tips! Your first cell revision looks great, I'll see how that looks across the whole thing. I don't think we want vertical scrolling for this, so the idea might have to be scrapped. And as far as vertical height for the cells, those Model Change quests are one of the few affected at lower resolutions. 

      If I knew what we could do with LUA then I would poke away :V But I think for now it's okay.

    • If you add a "max-width" property to constrain the XL resolutions, you can probably improve the layout better than stretching it all they way till the end. Or, you can remove the fixed height for rows to shrink the rows vertically.

      On another note, it's probably a good idea to add a lightgray separator between the rows spanning all the way from ID to the end. That and I missed a separator between Reward and Note

    • I'd rather have the rows fixed personally, that's one of the things I hated most about the old layout honestly. Regardless though, I added a max-width property of 1200px as well as cleaned up a few other things. One of those being this weird bug where my headers would move around in the code. Reason for that was because I didn't close off a div, which started messing things up. And on the other hand I added that extra separator, I forgot about it too :V, and made them a bit more saturated.

    • Yeah, but when I'm trying to remember if I have certain ships, it would be nice to just see all the cards quickly - I can't remember all the names yet. What I do now is create a new tab in Chrome for each name and then tab to each and make sure it's one I have and keep those open while I fill out my fleet. In any case, seeing the ship's card/face with a mouseover would be nice if easy in a lot of places.

      It was supposed to be "by Constructing Shipgirls"/"through Shipgirls Construction" though feel free to change it into something better since not being an English native kinda screws me here.

      I'm mostly standardizing terms and translating stuff as literally as possible in hope that someone with better English proficiency (and naming sense) than me can fix up the sentences without going too far from it's original meaning. Things like Aviation Surface Attack Fleet or Marine Rush Fleet are awful though nothing better comes to mind at the moment.

      If I'm not mistaken, Sortie/Practice/Modernization/Marriage sections are missing the darker shades that separate the rows. (Ignore this, lousy laptop :/) The change in Building Quest numberin messed up the shades pattern.

      On a side note, is there a glossary somewhere in the wikia for military terms like 隊/戦隊/主力艦隊/部隊/etc? Everyone seems to translate the terms differently throughout the wikia.

    • As someone mentioned quest numbering, i noticed that in yuubari kcv's quest translation file, quest numbering are switched from format of A01 into 101, and the other tool i used, myfleetgirls, also used a 101 formatting for numbering quest. Is there some kind of specifications or change in api or something?

    • Hey guys, just peek in and i don't know if other player comment but i think the <composition> quest need more ship image for easy understanding like <List of ships required by quests and expeditions> model

      and also can you make something like a family tree of quest in which you can show the quest address and the quest that need to unlock or doing before moving to the next quest, because i personal think that displaying all the quest do not help much, something like a <evolution tree> will be more easily to understand.

    • ^The newly implemented mouseover pic should resolve your first problem. Though it'll be nice if the image start loading upon mouseover rather than when the page loads. It's taking me 10+ seconds to load the entire page now at 100KB/s (during which none of the pic shows, as expected) which is kind of a bandwidth waste since I'll not mouseover most of them anyway :v.

      As for the evolution tree thingy, I assume it's too much work if even the Japanese players aren't doing it. Clicking all those links in the Note column should roughly give you what you want though I notice discrepancies between ours and wikiwiki version as early as A5 itself.

      I looked through the first few quests and some examples are: A7/A8 requires A5 completion, A12 doesn't require A11, A14 requires A7 rather than A12. If wikiwiki are to be trusted, I believe quite a few of the earlier quests haven't been updated after new info popped up in wikiwiki. Which means one has to refer to wikiwiki and update each quest one by one :v. I can do it later if we decide to fully follow wikiwiki and ignores every discrepancy such as the case in A14.

      That said, I suggest rewording the note section:

      Needs A20 completion -> Requires: A20

      Required by A22, A24, and A27 -> Unlocks: A22, A24, A27 or Unlocks: A22/A24/A27

      Or anything that's short, doesn't require looking inbetween sentences, and reduce scrolling.

      Edit: Actually before then I think I'll go through the translations a bit more just to check if there's anymore awkward phrases. I'm sure the community could probably that though, but might as well do what I can.
