Event Japanese English Note
Introduction
I'm the light aircraft carrier, Shouhou. Yes, I'm a little small, but please make a place for me on your fleet!
Library
First of the Shouhou-class aircraft carriers.
Originally, a submarine tender.
If it's not the flagship or the main fleet but a small task-force, then by all means use me!
If you make use of me, I'll surely get good results!
Secretary 1
あ… U-uh... Um.
Secretary 2
Eh, do I like coral? No, I hate it! She was sunk at the Battle of the Coral Sea.
Secretary 3
Um...if you touch me too much, I can't launch my aircraft. Can we do it after I've launched everything? Pun on "every aircraft" (全機, zenki) and "foreplay" (前戯, zengi).
Idle (Kai)
One dive bomber... two dive bombers... three... Ah, Admiral! It's okay, I'm not lonely or anything. I have my planes with me and... Ah, yes! Historically, she carried 18 fighters (+3 reserves) and 9 torpedo bombers. Japanese light carriers were too small to operate dive bombers, whose sturdy wings could not be folded as with the more lightly constructed torpedo bombers. So, where did those dive bombers come from? hmm...
Secretary Married
Once in a while, won't you try taking it easy and be yourself? Forget about things like sortie and your duty... I mean, I'm sorry! That's no good, isn't it... Literally means 'Spread one's wings', an expression for loosening oneself and behaving in a carefree manner.
Wedding
Admiral, am I being useful? Really? Then...that's great. From now on, I'll always be by your side!
Looking At Scores
Admiral, you have a message from command.
Joining A Fleet
Fleet, time to sortie!
Equipment 1
Huh? I'm so happy! For you to be giving me strength!
Equipment 2
Thank you! Now, I'll be able to keep up with the fleet carriers!
Equipment 3
Sorry to keep you waiting.
⇧ shared with expedition selection, resource collection, instant repair and development
Supply
Huh? Huh? I'm so happy! For you to be giving me strength!
Kai
Supplies, much appreciated.
Docking Minor
Time for a little rest. I'll be well shortly.
Docking Major
If I stay like this, I'll just be a target for the enemy. I'm sorry, but I need to rest a little.
Docking Complete
Thank you for waiting! Ship's repairs have been completed.
Construction
Looks like a new ship has arrived.
Returning From Sortie
A fleet has just returned to port from an operation.
Starting A Sortie
Will my planes be okay...? No, it'll be fine!
Battle Start
Enemy fleet spotted! Bombers, please prepare for flight!
Air Battle
Straying too far from the fleet is dangerous... She's worried about her planes being in danger. Most of the aircraft Shouhou carried did not carry radios or radar equipment and the radios they did have were of poor quality, meaning if the fleet changed course while aircraft were sortieing they would not be able to find their way home.
Attack
I'm still an aircraft carrier! I can do it!
⇧ shared with day/night special attacks, support expedition team arrival
Night Battle
Second attack squadron, are you ready? Then, prepare for launch!
MVP
Yay, I did it! I'm so happy! From now on, I'll be sure to keep working hard!
Minor Damage 1
Aaaah!
Minor Damage 2
Ow! How dare you!
Major Damage
Ah... I'm done for... I can't fight like this.
Sunk
I can't...huh...I'm sorry everyone... She was the first Japanese carrier to be sunk during Pacific War (WWII)

Character[edit | edit source]

Appearance[edit | edit source]

Shouhou is an archer light carrier, who wears relatively little clothing. She wears a bandeau which shares the same appearance as the real ship's flight deck, a half of a shirt on her right side, and a skirt.

Personality[edit | edit source]

  • Shouhou is a polite girl, always saying a "Thank you" and "Please".
  • She is also rather careful and at times worried, mainly around her equipment as her planes were quite weak.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Shouhou translates to "auspicious phoenix".
    • Her name was mistranslated by the Americans as "Ryukaku".
  • She originally was laid down as the submarine tender / fleet oiler "Tsurugizaki", she was renamed and converted while under construction into an aircraft carrier by the 2nd Naval Armaments Supplement Programme with Zuihou.
  • Sunk by air attack during the Battle of Coral Sea, 7 May 1942. She was the first Japanese aircraft carrier to be sunk during World War II.
  • Received her own Kai art on June 26th, 2015.
