- Her name translates to "Prince Eugene". She's named after Prince Eugene of Savoy, one of the most important field marshalls in the history of the Austrian military. He served the Habsburg Monarchy during the late 17th and early 18th century.
- Because of the fact above, Prinz Eugen has a male given name.
- Eugene is derived from the Greek word ευγενης (eugenēs), "noble", literally "well-born".
- She was acquired and service in the US Navy for a short time and listed as unclassified miscellaneous vessel (USS Prince Eugen) with the hull number IX-300 vessel registered originally to prevent the Soviet Union from acquiring it and docked in Boston for examinations and testing before Operations Crossroads.
- Towed to Kwajalein Atoll after Operation Crossroads before being capsized December 1946, thus making her one of the Kriegsmarine ships who survived World War II.
- Her artist's commentary from Twitter on Nov. 13th reveal the follow design details.
- She looks like Bismarck because the British mistook her for Bismarck. Hence, the turrets, bridge, etc, are all more or less modeled after Bismarck.
