- The serious fighter of her class. Also a doting sister to Ashigara, who in turn dotes upon Haguro. Nachi is fond of alcohol, but is not a heavy drinker.

- Sunk, 5 November 1944, 12 nautical miles (22 km) northeast of Corregidor in the Philippines in a persistent bombing run.
- Wreckage is in accessible waters, as divers from USS Chanicleer retrieved several items from her including radar equipment, code books, maps and other documents in April and May of 1945.
