I just want to say thanks for the good work on the Event pages, in particular with the enemy compositions. It has helped me a lot, and I really needed the information due to the personal challenge I'm trying to clear the event with.
Someone in the chat told me,that you tested if a slot with 0 planecount provides any stats to the ship it is equipped to.
I wanted to know if it does or not,because in DJs kc3 kai ships equipped with seaplanes on 0 plane slots dont provide any LOS.
I know that 0 planeslot means no shelling for carrier and no spotting for ships,but i want to know if they provide stats (someone was bugging me with that sole reason and applied logic in a game)
KCV also doesn't recognize 0 slot seaplanes as providing LoS outside of combat but that appears incorrect else how could my low LoS fleet manage to pass the LoS checks.
Now if your question is whether or not in combat LoS and other stats are applied with 0 plane slots, I do not know for sure as it's not that easy of a thing to test.
I did run a test with carrier shelling with size 0 slots (one bomber slot not size 0 else i wouldn't shell at all) and the 0 bomber slot was still added into the shelling calculation. Not exactly the same as adding up fleet or ship LoS mid combat, but it might also apply.
The slot # showing how many planes you have affects shelling/scouting in battle and that's for sure. Could be the case that only the LOS number is checked for the routing purposes and the # of planes in routing/branching does not affect branching.
If you add 0 slot seaplanes while already at 30 ELOS then I would assume you'd take the BRu/Ri/WoS route. Might as well just bring around 26 ELOS base and then throw on a seaplane in a 0 slot which would add 12 LoS and call it a day after 1 run.
For some equipment it just adds to base stats but doesn't provide bonuses. Like using seaplanes for asw damage on CL might provide slight boost to ASW but not equipment bonus ASW that has the nice 5x multiplier. Maybe you have something similar with LOS as zero slot planes might be able to contribute to basic LOS but not equipment LOS.
It'd have to be more than basic LoS because basic LoS gets square rooted into nothingness. Although I ran my 3-5 experiment pre new LoS equation, my ships ran with 0 LoS equipment save for seaplanes on Yuubari's size 0 slots and only registered around 11-12 ELOS way short of the presumed 28 ELOS requirement.
Applied logic fails if the game doesn't account for all possible situations. It makes no sense that 0 size seaplanes would help LoS but it appears it does. It makes no sense that 0 size bombers would increase shelling damage but it does. It's more likely that it's a bug that the devs didn't bother to check for 0 size values in some calculations, though they did bother to factor that into artillery spotting.
How did your runs go Flon? Tank your LoS beyond all doubt and then bring 2+ seaplanes on 0 slots and the result should be pretty obvious.
so,i went with ~21 ELOS to 6-2,went from F to H
swapped out a CLT with ooyodo,put 2 planes on her 0 planecount slots
and ELOS increased due higher base LOS to 24 ELOS
long story short,i went from F to I node,which tells us,0 planecount still provides the stats and ELOS
gonna tell DJ to fix this in his kc3 kai ELOS calculation
@ninthsense,the difference was 3 ELOS
before swapping out CLT with ooyodo: ELOS 21
after swapping out CLT with ooyodo : ELOS 24
as far as i remember,the ELOS needed to pass LOS check H-->K(boss)
was about 27,so either way it wouldnt make a difference that i reach the I node
some dive bombers and torpedo bombers still provide LOS,even though not much,if they are getting shot down because of 2-3 CV himes in the previous nodes (maybe next event) it would be interesting to know,if planes in 0 planescount slots for carrier works the same---
gonna do pvp against hard carrier fleet and let my planes shot down that i get 2 times 0 planecount slots and try again with similar setup
