  • Heyo, there, Tennousu here.

    I got banbot'd.

Reason: I typed Summer 2014's event operation name. The 1st and 14th letter in the alphabet, the same letters that this particular banbot takes an offense to.

Please let me out of this torment of not being able to tro--err, post.

    Thank you.

  • I saw a "Crazy TTK" in my PVP a day or so back on Paramushir.  Just wondering.

    • That is not me, lol. My in-game name is completely different to both my wikia and my discord name. Other than that I am on the same server as you are,.

  • Hey teitoku! I'm Jamie from FANDOM's Community Development team! Not sure if we never asked you if you are interested in turning on the Discussions feature for this community, and migrating the Threaded Forums across as well.

In case you are unaware of the feature, Discussions was introduced last year to help communities engage with users and fans. It lives in its own space on the wiki and allows users to interact with other members of the community. It is also mobile friendly and gives mobile users a chance to contribute and engage with the community, and possibly turn them into wiki editors as well. Discussions also links with our FANDOM Apps, which this community has and it allows app users to easily take part in Discussions as well. You can read more about Discussions here.

For more information on migrating forums to Discussions, you can check out this blog over on Community Central that explains everything in detail.

If you have some concerns, Discussions, and Forums can exist side-by-side in case you do not want to migrate just yet. However, eventually all Forums will be migrated over to Discussions and Forums will be sunsetted as a feature, so getting ahead of the curve is never a bad idea.

Feel free to have an open discussion with your community about this, and I'm available for any questions you might have. Have a good one!

    • Hello! Checking back up on this, what do you think?

    • Hi, apologies with the delay in response. We just went through a busy time with an event that happens within the game involved. Unfortunately I cannot speak on behalf of the KC wikia admins/staff but I have sought opinions from a few admins/staff with regards to this matter. Here are some of our main concerns:

      • How long do we have to be able to migrate from forums to discussions especially if we have both extensions/features running side-by-side.
      • How many people will there be to assist us with this process or are we doing this ourselves? If we are doing this ourselves, will the appropriate permissions to enable us to convert old formats from one to another be offered? How will this work out?
      • Are we able to "pin" messages similarly like how reddit works?
      • Are we able to retain wikicode capability on the discussions because there are several old forum threads which has contains wikicode and without it we would lose all those features. If we are unable to make use of wikicode on discussions, can we delay the implementation until such features are available before we can then migrate?

Please note that these concerns are inexhaustive as I am personally seeing this is a major overhaul in how KC wikia operates currently.

    • Thanks for these questions! I'll do my best in answering them:

There is no set date for sunsetting forums. I imagine it will be a year, more or less. If it gets unmanageable to moderate, we have a team of global mods that can help, just let us know. http://community.wikia.com/wiki/Help%3AGlobal_Discussions_moderators

There is no "pin" or highlight replecement tool aviable right now, but we know that it is one of the things the community wants very much.

If a post had wikitext in it before it got migrated (i.e. templates were used), that post will retain all that when it is migrated to Discussions, meaning it will look the same. But new posts can't be made that way. And if old migrated posts are edited, they will lose their formatting too, since the Discussions editor doesn't support such formatting features. You can check out this: http://community.wikia.com/wiki/Help:Discussions_FAQ#Features_and_functionality
