Can you teach me how to play Kancolle properly please? My naval presence seems to be off by a century or so. (like a fleet of war galleons vs a fleet of imperial star destroyers). No matter how hard I try, I always ended up in the middle of futility and despair. What are the factors that lead to your success?
By all mean, she is not the best player but she is reasonable good player and her guide is normally a good start for the basic stuff.
Let me give you some tips.
First thing, read the combat page. This is a must if you want to learn how to play this game. You can learn A LOT how this game works and that alone will be a factor between clearing and failing. I understand that can be very overhelming to learn everything but believe me, you will be rewarded.
Second thing is to understand what you need, you should have a long term goal. Planning what you need for your fleet, for an example. Next Kai ni? Next equipment? Next upgrading? Next ship? If you understand combat mechanic, you will pretty much understand what you need next. However, there might be time issue, how many hours are you ready to grind for a ship? How much resouces are you ready to stock instead of using activly? Just a quick pro tip, try to be under softcap. Natural regen is very powerful. 1440 resouces except baux that is 480 for total 24 hours. For 30 days that is 43 200 while Baux is 11 520.
I think these two tips is currently the best for you. Sorry for not be able to mentor you but i just don't have the time to do it. I wish you good luck on E5.
Thank you very much for your dedication on helping out newcomers. I did look at the following article on main combat and some of your pocket guides. Once again I appreciate your enlightenments on writing these guides.
My current long term goal is to level up Ooi and Yukikaze for the night time cut in. And I am also looking forward to get at least 2 aviation cruisers for the next event. It might take a bit of resources to upgrade Kougou class and Hiryuu class. As for e5, I never expected myself to pass e3 before the event to be honest.
I might attempt to contact Death Usagi and I estimated that the probability of him repling is about me completing e5 (I would be extremely surprised).
I used the carrier task force as people suggested and failed to destroy the boss. Sometimes the boss only has 33 HP left and I am unable to do anything about it. After countless failed attempts, I am now desperately short on fuel and buckets. Ooi and Kitakami just never trigger the night time cut in at all for some reasons.
I did contacted Shinhwalee and she said “Your ships and equipment are extremely lacking...
Especially Aircrafts for LBAS as well... “
Now I don't even know how to clean up this aftermath. I am utterly defeated in my first event.
Show me your fleet, your equipment, and what you have been using. CTF is one suggestion, but it doesn't mean STF isn't acceptable. The one factor that made people hate STF is the submarine node on the first node, which can end your run pretty quickly.
I don't know what you are using right now but my first recommendation can be this: Don't give Ooi, Kitakami nor Kiso the torpedo cut-in setup. Their night attack are high enough to make up for it and you can get a more consistent damage with Double attack (2 guns) set-up. Yukikaze is acceptable for Torpedo Cut-in; Ooi isn't (or Kitakami, if that's what you're talking about)
Anything else I don't know without further information. You have 5 days left; it's not over.
EDIT: I looked at your fleet + set-up in Shinwa's post.
I'm assuming you're going Easy, and I'm assuming you want to continue doing CTF. If so:
Dive Bombers + Torpedo Bombers:
There's a bonus for first slot of every carrier. Put your strongest torpedo bomber there. Add in Green planes until you have enough fighter power to achieve Air Superiority (Try filling from smallest slot first because Aircraft proficiency makes them strong even in small slot).
The 2nd or 3rd smallest slot, put your dive bomber. There's a bonus modifier for equipping dive bomber (i.e. you hit harder) but you only need one per carrier. Don't put more than that. Just put at 2nd smallest slot.
Fill whatever is left with torpedo bomber.
Your yukikaze is too weak to be used. I would suggest Shimakaze + Double attack as a better choice but your Akigumo seems to fare better right now. Replace your Asashio's torpedo with Radar instead
Give your Isuzu 2 Red guns. One Green and one AA gun does nothing. 2 Red guns give you double attack.
Put your BBs first, let them be the first to attack to avoid getting hit because of Shooting order.
Put your Kirishima up top-ish for Escorts. Your fBB does more job during day battle, at night, they're used for cleaning up mostly. Your main trump card are Ooi and Kitakami. Put them last to let them fire the killing blow if lucky.
STF is also possible and might be better for Easy because submarines ain't problematic yet.
Pretty much similar suggestion except you have 4 (f)BB(V)s instead of 2. Use 2 CVL and load up enough planes to get Air Superiority, Saiun, then drop eveything else into the DIve-bomber + Torpedo combo.
Escort fleet suggestion is the same.
This can be better because your Main fleet goes first, preventing your escort fleet from taking early blows that might forced you to retreat early (while your KTKM and Ooi still do Opening Torpedo).
I have read through your tips and thank you very much for your advice. I have tried using both of the fleet types and CTF is currently producing the best outcome. It is absolutely amusing to know these tiny details in the aircraft group composition. My apology as this is my first event therefore I don't have any strong ships like Bismarck, Iowa or Roma like everyone else.
You guys really helped me a lot during my first event. I am feeling a bit guilty for your dedication just because my desire to get a new ship. I believe this event even the easy mode is way too challanging for beginners like me. My friend only made it to e3 and I am weaker than he îs. (He has an entire Maruyu army).
Quest F44 and F45 here were different with wikiwiki
F44 in this wiki is F45 on wikiwiki and vice versa.
I think someone who read wikiwiki edited the section for quest F46 and F47 which both require F45(F44 in this wikia) without knowing what happen above. this make some people confuse I guess, as why the quest is still locked.
I do agree that is good to keep us on a leash to avoid too much garbage in the wiki, plus the gif is borderline. although anyone watching the wiki from work and finding such things should actually be working rather than chequing Kancolle. I mean, just look for "butt" tag on images and there is plenty of stuff there lol.
Ty for the work tho, gotta keep the wiki nice an tidy :D
